Default devek level 2 headers

Just A side note , since the devek level 2's sold on rennlist recently, I wish greg brown would publish or post his stuff he develops on his site or this…anyway

when my engine was on the breaking in dyno at calif. he compared his headers with the devek level 2 and he made 10 hp straight up more hp at the crank …so there are better headers out there but I checked his website and couldn't find his headers or exhaust written about….

I don't get it…I think he still makes and sells this stuff

anybody know how to tell without calling him , I hate to bother him.

busy dude.!!

Actually, it was only 5 (609 vs. 604 chp, N/A), but who's counting?

Greg's working on a website revision, he was telling me about it when I stopped by late Saturday afternoon to grab some ditzels for my GTG. He missed coming to my place on Sunday because he worked all day Sunday as well, finishing up a customer car.

All work and no play makes for un-updated websites.

GB's headers I imagine would be prohibitively more expensive (for average folks) compared to the price of Devek's or the other available options for the difference in HP. High quality dyno tested and proven parts don't come cheaply, unfortunately.

The point is that yes, currently there are indeed some Devek LIIs (The Level ones were just MSDS), but other than that, we are trading used pigs, and the pigs are getting old. There is no one else "making" headers for the higher HP S4 cars other than Greg and MSDS. And the MSDS units are cheap(er) but they do need work done to make them viable and also workable if you ever want to not kill yourself doing a simple clutch change.

Woah, woah, woah... wait a minute. Dont forget about those amazing prototype 928Developments tri-y headers I have in the 928 bits museum. Those had to have been good for at least 25 more ponies than the Devek.

(tongue firmly planted to cheek)

Pictures available though if anyone is interested.

Hans, it would be interesting to compare their measurements against the Tri Y's that are on Mark's racer. They were worth a bump from ~410 to ~430 rwhp on the Zombie back in September 2002.

On the street they'd only be workable if A) you're deaf, B) your neighbors are deaf, and C) your ride height is about 190 mm all the way around.

PS- still owe you a response on that e-mail from oh, two weeks ago- sorry for the delay!

I don't know what you guys are complaining about, Rob replied to my email right away... maybe because I know the secret handshake, or maybe because he just likes me more.

How is it possible to test headers on that engine dyno and stand, doesn't it need extensions for primaries? Or is the theory here that the primary length doesn't matter than much and that the length increase was the same for both tested headers?

He is busy. And mine was not about cars, so it may be been slotted in a separate folder.

I thought those were the rare DEVEK fender well headers for their top secret 928 top fuel altered project.

Tuomo, I don't think there's any directly applicable inference that can be drawn from this 'test', given the 6" standoffs the headers are bolted to, and the ~6" sewer pipe they're dumping into. I just think it's a cool picture cuz everything is glowing red.

Could it be considered a test of absolute airflow through the exhaust given that the extensions are the same and the dumps couldn't possibly be a restriction?

There is a little bit of improvement in AUC, for whatever it's theoretically worth:

I'm not sure 10hp is within a statistically significant margin of error, but it would appear there is a slight bump between 5k and 6500 RPM.
