Next question since the consensus is storing the car off the ground - should you remove the wheels to reduce the weight load on the hanging suspension? I have heard that long periods in the air can wreck the shocks. Not sure if that is a real issue.


If you are not driving it through the winter with my last suggestion store it on the ground and pump tires up all around to 55pounds to prevent flat spotting and fill gas tank to the brim with race gas. (cam 2 etc). Fresh oil also. Stabilizer for added protection added when your at the station topping off and drive home. If you store it in the air then the shock shafts can get pitting and ruin the seals once driven. But I have storred collectibles for 30 years now so what do I know

Get a 4 post lift and store it in the air on it's wheels.

Better yet, on a 4 post lift, in the air, with blocks under the suspension so weight is on suspension but not wheels.

I am still wondering about the mice in Canada...do you really need a 12 gauge?

I store mine on the ground with Flatstoppers under the tires.

Ahhh. "Fond" memories of waiting with flashlight and .45, baiting rats in our MacNamara bunker at Con Thien.

12 ga. does seem like overkill when a .410 might do it. And that 00 buck rattles around in an enclosed space.

You may well split your CV boots both inner and outer when you head out for your first drive in the spring. With the weight off the wheels and the suspension at full travel the boots are stressed WELL beyond their normal range of motion, granted they aren't turning but its not normal...the lower part of the out board joint...and the upper part of the inboard joint are stretched beyond a normal range of travel.

If you can get the rear suspension "parked for the season" in a normal postion you will be much better off.

While its up now..go have a look., you will see what I mean
