Concours Win
At the combined Regional PCA "Oktoberfest" Concours event yesterday, one of our local 928 owners came away with a 1st-in-Class win with his immaculate and great running 928 S.
His car also was awarded the coveted "Best-In-Show" Award of all cars at the event, and there were many cars there.
There was the entire mix of all Porsche models, from brand new GT3's, Turbo's from every year, and many Carreras, along with a dozen of concours-ready 356's, several of which were trailered to the event.
This was a really big achievement for a 30 year old 928 when you think about it! And the smile on the owner's face when he accepted the "Best-In-Show" Award was priceless.
You can see his car in the photos below.
The Red 928 S4 took "2nd-in-Class," so there was much to celebrate yesterday.
The most interesting thing was the large number of P-car owners who came by to admire the 928's, sit in them, and really check them out.
Lots of love for the cars yesterday.

Outstanding. Great showing. I have also seen heightened interest in our sharks among the 911 crowd lately too.

Three Wheelin'
Not to be a downer, but how does one win a concourse show with non original rear wing, wheels, headlights and stickers on the side? Maybe the cleanest car, but not concourse. Still nice to see the appreciation.

it depends on which class you are entered, in most classes 100% original is not required. However a pristine CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN car is....

'Me thinks' David is being a bit modest. In addition to his great photographic skills, I'm very sure he is the owner and caretaker of that red 928 S4 that took second place. (I recognize the wheels David - Ha!!). If I recall correctly, it was previously owned by Chip Carey - son of the famous baseball announcer Harry Carey.
Great job by both the 928 S owner (a Rennlister???) and Mr. Kelly,

Awesome job!
Here in Houston, we also had a 928 take Best in Show (Tom's '84) a couple of weeks ago at the PCA Concurs. I posted about it but it was buried in a thread about the event so many may not have seen it. Andy took Best in Show at the same event last year.
The times are really changing for the 928 with the PCA crowd. I've seen lots of interest and respect for the car in the last few years, and many 911 owners looking to buy one.

Thanks for the comments everyone. They are really appreciated.
Don, that is exactly what stood out at this concours as well; the genuine respect and interest shown by everyone for the 928's. And, as you experienced, there was interest by several people in actually buying a 928. A really good sign for 928's in my view.
And Gary, many thanks for finding all of those great wheel sets over the years!
