TOB replacement

Throw out bearing giving it up?
Over the past 6 months my 87 has developed a groan on the release of the clutch in reverse or first and occasionally into 2nd. It coincided with it being more difficult getting it into one of those gears. With the car off it shifts easily into any gear. From my research it sounds like the throw out bearing is giving up the ghost.
Am I going in the right direction?

TOB replacement
Groan when I release the clutch in first or reverse. Now difficult to get into gear with car running - no difficulty with the engine off.
I am going to assume the TOB on my 87 needs to be replaced.
What do I need?
I think the clutch material is fine. I'll inspect once I drop the clutch pack.
TOB and pilot bearings available for the 87 or do I need to upgrade to a GTS release arm.
I read that the 87 clutch release arm can be modified to accept the GTS TOB.
Also, I can press the bearing out of the TOB and press it into the 87.
Any preference? I have access to a 12 ton press.
Thanks.

from a stop, easy to get in gear? it might be int plate adjstment.
the grown should be a bearing noise, and then it might be the TO bearing. its always spinnig, but under a side load with the clutch pedal depressed.
