Default 928 fender rolling in Toronto, Ontario.

I just got my new shoes put on. Many thanks to hinchcliffe for selling me a nice set of Turbo Twists.

For anyone looking for a shop that has experience rolling fenders, I recommend these guys:

Jump Start Auto Inc.
1165 O'Connor Dr, East York, ON M4B-2T5
( 416-285-0733 )

$50 a corner

Did an awesome job on my 928's rears 11" x 18" rims with 295/30/18s. They really took time not to stress the paint, did 3 passes with heat. They also have amazing tire changers and a laser tire balance machine. Never seen anything like that before.

As a side note, anyone that is contemplating going to 18" rims from 16" and are nervous... I would say JUST DO IT! I was a bit nervous myself that the ride would get harsh. But as a testament to the 928s suspension, the ride did not change a bit, and the interior tire noise has *decreased* going from my 245/45/16 Fuzions to 295/30/18 Michelin sports. I am just digging the car so much all over again, and all the stares and comments just add to the experience!

I am going to take my Fikse rims for my 951 to these guys too. I have been very nervous about getting them trashed on some crappy machines. Check these out:

It's probably because those tires appear to be near the end of their life cycle.

Going to an 18" wheel with a shorter side wall tire from 16" should noticeably improve the handling responsiveness.

You'll see when you put some new sport tires on.

Jason - what offset are the rear wheels, and what size spacers are you using on them?

Hey Randy,

My 18s appear to be near the end of their life? They are brand new. My 16s had lots of tread left too...

I guess I should clarify. I did not mean the 18" set-up didn't improve handling or traction. Of course those aspects have been improved substantially. I doubt I could get these brand new sticky Michelins to slip easily endless I was determined. The old ones would slip by accident quite often.

However what I was trying to convey is the RIDE COMFORT has not changed at all, not even a bit. The ride is velvety smooth. I am sure this is due to the suspension of the 928. I doubt my 951 will fare as well when I throw on the 18s in a few weeks. I have to learn to be less hasty in the future when posting!

Thanks Randy.

Hey Hilton,

The rears are 45mm offset. No spacers.

Hahahah, 295s are great for those wheels. 305s would be awesome, but fenders won't stretch anymore for my car. No rear spacers, but fronts could use a 3mm to get the caps to fit. No need to have a hub centric as the hub is long enough.

I also went with 295/30/18 out back. The ride quality seems the same as the stock 16s. Look of the car and handling definitely improved a lot.

do i have to do a video and post it with the baseball bat (wood only)?

I just did a BMW last night that needed 1" of fender push out and it worked perfectly. u use the bat and using the car's engine as the rolling machine ..... That way, form follows function.

Do you heat the paint first too? I have seen videos of drive-rolling a wooden bat. It just looks too scary for me. I can see that method going too far too fast. But, I guess if you have a lot of experience with this method you can crease the lip inside much flatter than with the Eastwood Roller.

Thanks so much. I would like to have the roll inside a little flatter tho.
