So I guess I'm going to break down and have my engine rebuilt

One it is too heavy, two it is heavy in the wrong areas (50/50 excels at manuvering/turning but does not accel at acceleration)
A stroker can cut the 0-60 time by a lot, with or without a supercharger/turbo, but that is going to cost the $$$$. Sadly it is cheaper buying a new car than to stoker our engines (but it is still on my list to do)

Rip the engine out and visit Renegade Hybrids, spend the same amount on a chevy and you will have twice as much power and similar weight ratio.
Before you all crucify me... for me it is all about the look of the car and the drive/handling, not what is under the bonnet. Chevies are cheap and easy to work on and parts are cheap too. If you are going to keep the car then why not do what you want with it

If you want more power, sell the car, and get a better 928 starting point.
Seriously - the jobs you list will cost north of $10k, and thats without trying to wring more power from the anaemic US L-jet engine.
You'll come out *way* ahead if you sell the car as-is, and buy either:
US 85/86 - can have Porken's chips and an X-pipe added for 300rwhp (roughly 100hp more than your '84).
87+ S4 - can be supercharged with a Murf kit (depending on stage, 250hp more than your '84)
"Euro" 4.7L 928S - can add headers and an X-pipe for roughly 280rwhp.
Just take your time and find one with good paint and/or interior, and you'll come out way ahead of fixing up your '84.

Ok.. so it seems you have a US '84 in need of interior work and paint?

There are a couple reasons why I'd like to keep this car, more sentimental than anything.
This is my 1st 'sports car', and my mid-life crisis car. I've had muscle cars, and pony cars. On top of that, it was a birthday gift from my wife.
A problem is having a place to keep it. I only have a 2 car garage, and my truck lives outside.

Sentimentality and a 928 make for dangerous bedfellows. That said, I'll never sell mine.
If it needs an engine rebuild, though, I don't think you can worry about ever seeing that $ again if you ever decide to sell. Adding a supercharger or turbo is something I'd like to do someday, too (leaning towards a Rotrex kit from Victor). But the priority has to be getting everything in proper working order before the power adder joins the fray.

I don't know what shape your present car is in and if the sentimentality is for that particular one or could apply to another. New paint and new interior plus the above engine combo would be all you need to be good to go for the rest of your days (suspension, wheels and tires wouldn't hurt). Such a car would go faster than you will ever need to go and I for one can not feel the difference in cars 1 sec apart 0-60.
I was at a local car show recently where I saw a 928 for the 1st time in a while. The 928 especially the Old Body ones are still the nicest designs out there, just need to be freshened up cosmetically.

I saw do what you want to do and what is going to make you happy with the car. It is your money and your time. That being said I'd find a good Euro engine, freshen it up and turbo it.

Just don't forget, it's not your car, it's your hobby at this point.
And how much do you want to spend on your hobby?
Mine was a car when I bought it back in 1990. It turned into a hobby a couple years after that.

Mines a hobby now. Supercharged it from Victor. 99.9% happy with the choice. Once I get the tuning exactly how I want it will get that .1% to 100%

If you going to add HP to any engine, first get it running correctly (all sorted out no leaks) w/ good heads and gaskets/seals, then do the power adder of you choice.
agreed a 16v euro would be the least $'s to do up.

Dave, I see you're local. Is there someone you would recommend? I'm in Taylor, and have a place in Dearborn in mind.
