So I took my shark out to a small local show this weekend where it was largely overlooked on account of Iowa being more of a muscle-car crowd. That said, I got a couple positive comments, both from boys somewhere between 7 and 12. Another guy with an old M5 told me he was thinking about trading off the bimmer for a 928.

The last guy told me about how his buddy took a superbird against a 928 back in the mid '80s and walked all over the 928 after 130mph.

All in all a good time, even if i'm not sure about the superbird story.

From what I have just read, the Superbird was a car capable of 180+ mph with the race engine in it. You'd never get me going that fast in something built by Detroit in the 60s-70s

Agreed. Although I did once ride as a passenger in a '67 les mans at 80 mph. No glass or interior and I was sitting on a bucket. Also no hood and open headers. I probably shouldn't admit to that.

As for superbirds, I had always had 130 or so in mind. 180 for that time period is amazing, although I suppose it was a full blown race car.

Superbirds (and their winged Dodge cousins, Daytonas) hit speeds well in excess of 200 mph at Daytona.

superperformance replica. very well done too. I should have gotten a picture of it, but the coolest thing there was an old (1917?) alfa. Wish i had met the owner to ask if it was a replica too. I have to assume it was, but it would be very cool if it was the real deal.

Man, I love muscle cars and all... but your car looks like a gem surrounded by stones in that pic!

Thanks! I, too, enjoy classic american muscle and street rods, ut something about the 928 just stands out above them, to my mind at least.

Glad to see you are participating in these shows - don't let the muscle discourage you. i have taken mine to shows before and it does get noticed - especially with the hood up. in our area the shows have no shortage of mustangs and camaros so something a little different is always refreshing.

I plan to take it to a show this Sunday, 1200 cars there last year, likely 1150 american muscle. When i go to these shows without the car, i usually regret not having it there.

I appreciate lots of different types of cars and the work that goes into them i am sure many others do to.
