Adjusting the steering wheel

After a track alignment on the '88, the steering wheel is out of adjustment (not centered).
Kind of a dumb question, but is re-centering the steering wheel a quick/easy job, and should it be done by pulling the wheel or at the steering box?
Thanks,
J.P.

the way it should be done is with the rack centering bolt,
then with the rack centered the steering wheel should also be centered,
then the tie rods adjusted to center the wheels.
At this point you could remove the steering wheel and center it your self

Hardest part about pulling the wheel is making sure you have the right size socket to fit the nut... it's a pretty big one.
Oh and if you cut yourself in the process, Cousin Dan has a remedy for that too using fishing line:
Dan is one of our locals and almost earsn enough off Youtube to pay for a couple beers each month. Lately he's been a stranger to our gatherings, so please click on his videos so he can afford to come out and drink with us.
I know it's friday and I'm bored... now returning to your regularly scheduled program.

Pull the horn pad off. Detach horn connection. Undo the nut. Remove wheel. Re-install at centered position. Reverse. 10 minutes max.
It's a 27mm nut (IIRC) and you need a 6"-ish extension.
On an airbag car you can end up breaking the clock-spring if the wheel is rotated too far.

You're right as always, Dave.
Quick and easy. I was expecting having to rig up a puller, but once that nut was off, a little wobbling and the wheel came right off.
I wish everything was that easy.

Yeah my horn button is set in a plastic (not rubber) ring. I suppose I should try to pry that ring off first, it's probably got to come out with the button anyway.
