Default Porsche manhole cover rims "flats" modifications

So....You would think the only mod folks would do to the manhole covers is to cut out the area below the slot to make the look like club sport rims....but no.. ...

The VW guys have taken it a step further and created "P-Slot" manhole covers LOL.. Couldn't believe it myself (the want $1500 for the set).... but here they are:

BTW..pslots are factory VW rims (usually 14" 4x100) on MK1 GTI's and the like..

I'm not sure if I like them or not They were done by a local VW shop (Meisterwerks)...has a great reputation... he has even converted the 13" stock VW rims to larger sizes by cutting the center of the rims out..and adding stock BBS aluminum "hats" to them for a 3-piece look..

Here's an example of what he did with stock Scirocco rims..

Not to take away from the Phonedial project..but wonder if this can be done to the stock phonedials.. hmm...

I kinda like it. At least, I think they're more interesting than plain manhole covers.

I like it, too. I do worry about structural damage and chances to start cracks.

I'd be cooler if pattern on two of the wheels went the other way.

Doesn't look too bad at all.

It's blasphemy.
Sorry, but I'm personally offended by such an undertaking.
The flats are the epitome of Porsche design: 1)form follows function, 2)light, light, light, 3) appearances are a matter of opinion, and the only opinion that matters is that of the factory.

I like the more open look to them, just wondering how much could come off w/o a failure?
Wouldn't want to be the one to test em.

It is stupid. Mess with structural integrity and then sell them. Not worrying about possible danger to others.
