We do have more or less 300 members in the "Club Porsche 928 de France" this year, for an estimated 1,000 cars on the road, plus some wrecks here and there.
Last annual gathering in may saw 60 cars at the same place, coming from all over the country.
We try to share as much technical informations on the private section of our forum, some of us have two or three cars and are very comfortable technically speaking, all are willing to help each other for troubleshooting procedures.

Few years ago one of our member settled as a mechanic specialized in 928 maintenance and restoration, he's currently handling 7 or 8 928s in his garage.
I think he's our version of Dr A. in UK, but we don't have many guys like him, may be 3 or 4 as skilled as he is.

You guys are certainly much ahead in term of racing, DIY procedures and data base for the 928s, but we try to improve our skills step by steps, sometime lurking on this forum...

Thanks again for sharing!

Cheers,

Michel

Wow! Who knew?! When my daughter told me that she wanted to be an au pair in Germany, I gleefully rubbed my hands together with visions of cheap and plentiful 928 parts dancing in my head. Oh well, at least one of our dreams is coming true.

Absolutely right Nicole! We have very knowledgeable 928 owner in Germany or better to say in German speaking countries and mechanics too.
The language barrier is probably the biggest problem, especially if you need technical English.

I used to spend more time on Rennlist in the past, but both worlds (PFF and Rennlist) with the same amount of time available is just not possible.

Many parts are sold by Roger to Germany just because there is more aftermarket stuff available and shipping today is as fast as ordering from your local Porsche pharmacy

About expert on 928 my italian experience is a disaster,
Porsche dealer in Bergamo......they never was able to install the Beker mexico navigator/ radio...
and they never check the transmission shaft ...so I find the TFB problem,
After them I goes to a "expert" of vintage cars...Autoelite in Scandiano ( Modena );
the result was worst...2 years for replace the engine and no result just waste money...
only in Porsche garage in Forlì I find a "mechanic" that know well the 928....
in 6 months he solved every problem , not cheap...but weel done every job....
last thing, in Italy a 928 S4 is really a cheap supercar, you can find around 9.000-10.000 USD,
and the problem come from this, a lot of people buy this car and have no money for a correct maintenance, so the cars are usually in orrible condition.....
The 928 is a real supercar....in every side , cost too...
