that's why i usually set the highest bid i'm willing to pay and let Ebay do the rest. $2750 seems like it would be well worth it as you couldn't buy the paint job for that.

I had no idea where it was going to end, though. This was indeed a great deal for someone; bad timing for me as I'm sinking big $ into my car now and I'd really have had nowhere to put this one. If this came up a couple of years from now, likely a different story. Plus, to get this one track or even street-worthy, you're talking at least $7-10k just in parts (unless you happen to find a good donor car with the right motor, transmission, and LSD; I wouldn't want to chop mine up after everything I've done to it). Worthwhile for sure, but ultimately for me to get into this it had to be an insane deal.

In any event, I hope someone here got it and will put it on the track.

I ended up with it. I always bid what I'm willing to pay upfront on ebay auctions. Don't understand the logic in dozens of incremental bids or last minute sniping. Everyone else seems to do that so I guess I'm missing something. I'm not certain what I'll be doing with the car just yet. I'm happy with what I'm getting for the price. The G28.11 transmission and new steering rack that come with the car are worth nearly what I paid, not sure what I'll do with two spare color matched doors but you never know what you will need. My sunroof delete felsengruen green '88 S4 is too nice I think to use as a donor car. So I may sell it to buy a donor or I might just keep it. Definitely in the market for a donor. Anyone know the history with the beautiful, wrecked venetian blue '91 GT in the bay?

Glad it went to another Rennlister and sorry for having driven up the price. Free market! And in terms of bidding styles, I've been using eBay for over a decade. Those techniques are the best way to get the best deal, IMHO. Requires more work, but saving money is like making it.

No apologies necessary my man. My first bid was $4009.28 so even if I pay another company to haul it to TX for me I'll be under what I was willing to pay. So, you saved me money and yourself another 50 or 60 bids!

TexasDude74,

If you decide to put this on the track, you may be interested in an 88 track car I have, that I will be selling soon, as a donor. It has a good engine, auto trans and 1000's in 928 Motorsports parts. PM me if interested.

WOW....nice car....... Honestly I never understood the thinking behind building a race car and spending $$$$ on paint......its just gonna get messed up....sure its pristine for a little while, but once you start wheel to wheel racing its gonna get lots of dings, rubber marks, chips, tire swirls etc....a cheapo paint job or sectional vinyl wrap is much cheaper to replace.....

Still this car looks stunning, glad to see it go from a rennlister to a rennlister....as always I offer any of my experience with 3 race 928's to help you get this one on track!!!

Single best idea....................rip out every inch of factory wiring harness.....its old and heavy and probably doesn't work that well anyway.....replace it with new stuff for the bare minimum you need.....a full S4 harness weighs nearly 150lbs!!!!!!

With a 16V engine you should end up around 2600lbs with a splash of fuel......maybe less if you are careful

IIRC all that harness had been removed, hadn't it?
I saw the car two or three at Bill's house during construction, it looked like the real-deal.
Good luck and be safe!

Yeah, the wiring harness is history. Hans recommended ISIS for the wiring, they seem a little pricey but look top notch. Any other wiring suggestions? Engine wise I haven't decided what to use. I've been giving some thought to the ford 5.0 cobra jet, 12.5 compression, all forged, 8300 rpm redline, pushing 600 horse for $16k.

Congrats or your recent purchase. Carl(FLYVMO)is going with the ISIS system on his amazing build
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ed-car-11.html I will be running a new LS376/525 h.p. ($9500 with serpentine system delivered to my door)and Z-06 6 speed maunual in the Just Peachy build. Can always bump up the h.p. with a Mast Motors forged LS7 630 hp for the same $$ as the ford. Not knocking the ford motor, but kits are available for the LS and none that I am aware of for the Ford drivetrain. Dinsdale makes conversion kits for the LS trans/diff you might want to check into and he is just down the road in Port Lavaca, TX.02. 77tony

The ISIS is sort of pricy for what is essentially a mosfet relay box. What is MORE expensive but WAY cooler are these babies:

There are other "cheaper" brands, but they are all... thousands.

These are the real deal of race car electronics.

For simplicity there is essentially nothing wrong with a breaker circuit panel with about 10 circuits.

Been inundated with pic requests, surprised this little car has generated such interest.
