Racing seats with stock belts
With the early cars the seat belt buckle is bolted to the tunnel, later cars to the seat.
I was helping a local friend fit one of my Recaro Pole Positions to his S4 and it suddenly dawned on us there was no way to mount the seat belt receiver.
What have other people done?
I know with such a seat most use a harness, he would like to also retain the stock belt too.

I used a Brey-Krause seat belt mount kit (Boxster version) with a Recaro SPG so that I could have both harness and stock belts. Not sure how/if it would work with the Pole Position.

I'll be damned.... considering I have BK stuff in my car I should have checked them out.
These look like they should work:

The seatbelt is unbolted from the floor and run from the B pillar through the upper belt hole in the Recaro seatback, and then through the lower side belt hole and bolted to the floor.
This way, you have a 3 point belt that connects in the original positions so all the warning lights etc still work, and it looks like it came from the factory that way.
I have been running my Recaro SPG that way for at least 10 years, and never had an issue.... I also have my 5 point harnesses connected and looped behind the seat so I can use those if I wish at any time. When using the harnesses, the regular seatbelt is just resting against the seat padding with the buckle flat against the seat lower out of the way. It does not pinch, and I can't feel it with a fire suit, or even with jeans, as I tuck it down in between the wall of the seat and the padding so it's out of the way.
Let me know if you need a pic. My SPG needs padding replacement, but hey, it still works fine for me so I'm not ashamed of a rustic looking Recaro in my car!

^^^^Would like to see some pictures of both the mounting and clearance of the seat shoulder by the B pillar - I'm 6'4" and planning either Recaro's or Sparco Evo seats and want to know how much space there is.

seatbelt routing
Yes, yes, I know my recaro seat needs reupholstering after 10+ years..
1. Seat Buckle clearance and position between seat and tunnel
2. Belt routing
3. Belt to "B" Pillar
You can also see the 5pt harnesses wrapped around the seat out of the way so I can use the normal belt. When the harnesses are needed, I tuck the belt into the seat, and unwrap the harness, raise the seat cushion to connect my sub strap, and click in all 5 points, and go..
Very simple setup..
Hope that helps....

Thanks for the pics, helps a lot to visualise what it'll look like.
Getting the seat as low as possible is definitely the plan. I also need to find a shop that has Pole Positions (XL), SPG's and Sparco EVO's to see what fits me best.

FYI - you can buy 944 seat brackets from Corbeau that will drop right into the 928. I still kept mine from my '86 track car and tried them out. All holes match. These brackets have a tab that allows the seat belt to be mounted without having to drill the driveline tunnel.

Not sure what Andy is referring to about drilling the driveline tunnel, but, no such mod needed to install stock Recaro brackets, on Recaro sliders. The buckle receiver stays in the stock position as noted, and the belt gets undone to loop throught he seat, then reconnected to the stock bolt hole.
Cheers,
