Default Is there a seal/gasket between tail lamp and rear bumper cover on OB? -APPARENTLY NOT

Polishing lights and lenses while car is in body shop and replacing seals where needed. When I removed the tail light assemblies there was no gasket or seal between the assembly and the bumper cover like there is for the side markers.

Pelican lists a part number for a seal between the lamp assembly and body as 928-631-924-00.

Can anyone confirm whether or not there is a seal at this location? I'm not sure if mine rotted away many years ago and may have never been replaced or if there is no seal to begin with.

It is used where the lamp housing locates on the inside of the bumper.
Not between the lens and the housing.

It seems that there may be an error in the aswers posted above. After ordering a pair of 928-631-924-00 gaskets we attempted to intall them. There appears to be no space for a gasket between the tail light body and the rear bumper cover. These seem to be gaskets that actually go inbetween the lens and the tail light and not the tail light and body.

I tried to compare it to PET, but the PDF version of PET i have is for a 1991 model, not an S1/S2/S3 car.

PET indicates in its layout that it goes between the light assembly and the body.
However PET has been wrong before 8>)

for the old lenses,
there is a seal between the lens and the light housing,
IIRC its a thin gray seal, could also be black.

It fits into a thin groove in the light housing.

There is nothing else sealing the housing.

The housing is held into the PU cover with 4 studs on the housing and nuts and washers

Merlin - Thanks. Yes my light has the gray seal between the lens at the tail light assembly. My original post was asking if there was a seal or gasket between the tail light assembly and the rear bumper cover.

Roger - I think PET is wrong on this one. Even though PET shows the layout as the gasket between the light assembly and the body (Item 3 on your PDF) it actually goes between Items 1 and 2 in the groove Merlin described.

Oh well, you can never have too many spare 928 parts.

well install the new gaskets into the housings,
the originals are probably rock hard
