For those with pan spacers and mini starters: remove stock starter mount?

Fair enough Greg. 
I was under the impression that it was essential to have the early unobtanium bits when using the pan spacer, regardless of the purpose for which the car was to be used. Didn't seem like there was an option. As in the oiling system would malfunction if the oil pan was spaced without these retro updates. Oh well. Of course, based on Brian's real world experience with this, I'm probably better off with Carl's creation in there at least.
The starter remains a concern. I suppose that, if we get it to work at all, we will have to see how long it lasts before I bottom out and it gets ripped off. That would be exciting. Again, I assumed there was only 1 "mini starter" for our cars. I actually tried to get the one you recommended but never heard back from Roger. To be fair I emailed instead of called. He's better on phone calls than emails. Anyway, I saw that Carl sold one and assumed it was the same one. I need to stop assuming so much.

Please ignore my thoughts about the "old" starter becoming obsolete and virtually junk, once the "new" design starter was made available, through Roger.
The old starter is great!
If anyone needs a few....I have them available, very cheap. $150 new, in the box. And I've got probably a dozen used ones that I've taken off of cars to install the "new" design starter. $75.00, guaranteed to work.

Oh c'mon! I appreciate the well wishes but I really wish you wouldn't self-edit like that. I rely on this information as a reference point and it really sucks to go back and not be able to find it. Search is hard enough to use as it is. I was hoping we could all work together here... Like a crappy family or something. I'm just trying to somewhat safely track a 928. Not an easy task.

Not mad......you were completely right.
I build jewelry. Everything is tested and fits. Everything works perfectly.
However, I really need to just quit saying anything about anything to do with 928's and just quietly make pieces for my own people, my own use.....and let the rest of the people figure it out, on their own.

If you are careful, you can move the clutch line bracket forward on the oil pan by three bolts....(going really easy on the metal line to the slave)... and it should pass between the pan and the body of the starter where there is more room to get at the allen bolt.
That said, I need to pick up greg's line kit so I can move the line further away from my headers on the drivers side

Moving the bracket forward on the pan might allow the starter to be clocked tighter to the pan, though...
I'm leaving it alone for now. The starter does not sit as low as the sway bar. This car does not have headers BTW.

The reason we had to come up with a better mini starter was because of all the issues with the one sold by other suppliers. They did not fit and hung way to low and had no guts. Any slight crunch and the starter grounded against the sump causing all sorts of problems.
Sterling Gee helped 928sRus come up with a much better design although trying to get IMI to stick with the concept has been challenging to say the least. Greg trial installed the starter on his engines and has been happy with the fit and performance.
This is how a mini starter should fit - no LOW hanging fruit here.
