Default Front wheel well splash shield "sealing strap"

Has anyone found a better aftermarket foam material for this piece? Mine were completely rotted away, looked like open-cell foam that was not dino product resistant.

I used a closed cell neoprene foam I had laying around. Might check body shops for thick foam " camper top" seal stuff

I used some black weatherstrip closed cell foam strip rolls from Home Depot and just stuck two strips together for the appropriate thickness. That way none of the sticky part touches anything. I forget the width bit you can just measure the shield groove and buy a width so that it protrudes enough from the groove to get a seal. Works great!

Thanks Mark!- I think between yours and Ducman's suggestions I ought to be able to figure something out.

I sourced OE material from Automobile Atlanta. It is a very different type of foam with a 'finish' on it that allows it to slide into the channel.

This is what I used, together with items to repair the shield:

+1 on the pipe insulation squish it in the groove and trim off the extra and install, works in the upper plastic guards too...

I may contact the usual suspect (Roger) about OE parts, looking for something local (and cheap).

I thought about using backer rod like that but was afraid it would squeek - and I see you are doing the same crack repair job! I'm using sheet aluminum, a little heavier (steel would be better except for corrosion) and pop rivets.

Thanks again all for the suggestions!

The pipe insulation is a great idea too.
