Default Field and Barn find: SUPER BLU 93 GTS save thread

Well, you guys know how much I enjoy a good 928 save... It all started with my '81 928 back in '98! It was 928 #3 for me and it was rough to say the least. By the time a friend borrowed it about 6 years ago it was looking mighty fine! It gave me the confidence to do some saves and I have done at least 3 more since! You guys have all read about EURO85 and how that went from $3600 SoCal sad car to the SUPER NICE EURO S that it is today. Then of course there is Green Mamba the Tribute car to that last US GTS that I bought out of San Jose. It was rough in SJ but it was really rough after hitting the deer on its way being delivered to me. That car has turned out so nice you just can't even believe it! What a car!!!

Well, here is the latest save! Not quite done yet, but far enough along for me to share. Those of you who are 928 Owners Club member (please join if you have not...support your favorite car and the events that bring you together with fellow 928 fans: www.928oc.org) have seen updates on this car there, but this is my first real thread here on RL about SUPER BLU!

This car started out as a Canadian car that would winter in FL... Big bad wreck at some point and the car is totaled. It bounces around to several places that *THINK* they know 928's and *THINK* they can fix it. It ends up in a field and a barn and missing a title and no one knows if it runs or drives. Finally ends up in the hands of Victor Edgar (of VCB Supercharger fame)... He has the car running in a few short weeks and several months later has a title on it... WOW! Who knew. We meet and chat at Sharktoberfest '12 and he says, "Sounds like you need a '93 GTS to finish out the GTS collection." I told him indeed I was and I wanted a black one because I was going to wrap it in a blue close to Maritime blue (ended up being a ringer for Arrow blue instead though!) and he said, "well, I happen to have a black/black '93 auto I might be willing to sell..."

So that is how the SUPER BLU got its start! Part of the deal was Victor had to supercharge it for me with his VCB Engineering S/C set up (stage I) and deliver it turn key ready to go!!! Well, he did just that and at a price I am happy with for the whole deal. The car is SUPER FAST and has a rock steady idle. Sometimes when its hot and you restart it the idle will take a minute or three to stabilize but once it is there man, it is just like driving any stock 928 you ever drove... Well, till you hit the loud peddle and alter the earths rotation slightly! HOLY SMOKE this thing is fast! Gonna be faster in 3 weeks once the X-pipe, high flow cat and RMB are installed!!

More to come...for now enjoy the pictures...they are in the order from just before Victor got it to sitting proud in my garage!!!

More pics of SUPER BLU!!! I spent about 30+ hours with the help of Jim Willman sanding on SUPER BLU and we all thought we had sanded it enough for the wrap to cover scratches well, but alas I should have just taken an orbital and taken it virtually all the way back to metal and then did a quick and dirty primer with some more sanding. That said, I'm pretty picky, the car actually looks quite amazing!!!

The last few of SUPER BLU for the time being! How many cars have their own T-shirt?! The shirt and the luggage cover were done by Richard Guzman and I have Robert Budd working on custom bright blue floor mats with "PORSCHE" in black...hope to have those in a week or so!

Oh, Vic came up with the Boost/AFM in the ash tray for me! AWESOME!!!

Nice addition to the fleet! It's funny, when I saw the title of the thread I thought this was going to be about a campaign to overturn the ban on SuperBlue brake fluid.

James,
I am very happy for you as you are enjoying one 928 after another to the fullest. What more can a man ask for?

Very nice car James.
And what a super car it should be with a SC!

Don't forget to put this one on your signature list!

James we should really get together. I have 2 great running 928's a 1991 S4 Horizon Blue, and a 1983 S 5 speed Brown in color. If those were added with yours we are only missing an 87 to complete one of every year.

Looks good. I remember this car popping up in threads over the years.

Looks good - interesting idea, sanding it smooth and just wrapping without bothering to paint.

Thanks everyone! Most appreciated!! Rich the luggage cover looks GREAT and I'll post some pics of it installed in the car soon!! Probably with me at the back of the car wearing the matching shirt!!

Hilton, a long and storied history on this car... I had looked in to it a month or two before Victor took the flier on it and bought it! To expensive and to many unknowns for me to jump on it, but Victor did a great job with the car. I am especially happy with the Supercharger install! Looks like it came from the factory with this set up frankly!

Harvey, we would still be missing a few... '89, '90, '79, '86...not missing many for sure! LOL!

Don, if I can swing it Green Mamba and SUPER BLU should make the weekend...fingers crossed!
