I bought the 85. I think I will be picking it up just before Sharktoberfest and will have it there to drive. Come and have a look.

I think this will be fun. I haven't had a light blue metalic car since my '64 belair 2 door hardtop at the end of graduate school. I traded it in for a red VW bug I bought off the show room floor in 1965, which is what started me down the path of the teutonic iron.

This is great! She is a very nice woman and I'm sure her creditability is 100%
She takes claim for doing something to the motor 30k ago that caused the rebuild.
See you at Marks in October

I picked the little 85 up at 8:00 friday morning about 10 miles west of Salinas, CA and we loaded it in my trailer in the fire station driveway. I was in a hurry so didn't take the time to get pictures of it there and in fact didn't even drive it there. I didn't lift the hood, but did look inside briefly and saw that it is in really good condition for the age and mileage.
Then I hauled it to SF 13 and only had one blown tire on the trailer on the way. Then I had another blown tire on the way home from there sunday. It wasn't that the tires were so old, but rather that I had run over something in the road in the dark thursday evening that I have no idea what it was, but it apparently broke the carcus of both tires on the right side. I am still afraid to think what it did to my truck tires, but I drive on Michelins and have only a little worry about that.
I drove the Car around between the Hotel and SF 13 a few times and it is really tight and smooth. Since I got home with it I can see some little items that need attention, and will be working on those, but the engine clutch and trans are really in nice shape. The interior is much better than one might expect for the usage, but even that I'll be doing some refresh with soon. There is a slight surge in the brakes, so I suspect new calipers and pads are in order. The AC is like ice, which I take as a real bonus. That is one of the things that one should expect doesn't work if it is even still all in the car.
There is very little sun damage to the interior, so I expect it has been inside nearly all its life. It drives almost a nice as my 90 GT with half the mileage, and is really hot. Love that five speed. What a deal.
Here are a few pictures. A couple more can be seen in the SF 13 thread.

Thanks again, Van, for the posting heads up on this car. The lady was a real joy to work with on it although I think there is going to be some difficulty on transfer of the title since she did not have it transfered to her name after her husbands's death. She told me that she had signed his name on the title which would probably go through, but on close inspection it is her name she signed and not his, so I don't know how it is going to go.
The car really is well worth what I paid and will become a frequent almost daily driver. I am anxoius to start working on the little deatils that is needs. I have been scrubbing on the subtle layer of grime that it seems to have deep in the texture of the vinyl everyplace, but it cleans up very nicely with vinyl and leather cleaner. You can see the spray can of it in one of the pictures. So far the rag is nearly black.
The tools are complete, I think, and the only thing missing is the compressor. The spare tire cover is even intact. The sunroof and both windows work and the seats work in all directions. The radio is aftermarket; and I can't figure out yet how to get it to work, but her son told me the speakers are all blown anyway. I'll be working on replacing those with aftermarket pretty soon.
It needs an intake refresh, but the engine runs strong and does not leak. The Lady even wanted to get me a picture of her garage floor to show that it didn't leak, but I said that wasn't necessary. The right front fender and the rain gutter trim over the right door have been repained and do not match real well. And, I think the front bumper bar under the bumper cover has been struck hard and not replaced with new shocks so the front lights are recessed about an inch. I'll be replacing those shocks soon also.
My wife was a little upset that I bought the car, I think, but the first thing she said this morning when I got it unloaded and she saw the color was " Oh, that's a nice color, is that mine?" Sure, and she might even get to drive it someday.

My dad passed away this summer, and we just did this for my mom here in VA. If DMV doesn't buy off on it, you may have to send the title back to her to have it switched to her name. Assuming she got the car in the will, DMV will give her a new title in her name. For us, it took a death certificate, a copy of the will and $10 to get a new title in Mom's name for each car. I thought $30 for three titles was quite the bargain. Of course, she had to wait an hour at the DMV to get them.

Thanks George. That is just about what I thought it might take. I'm going to try here first, and it will be about a two hour wait at our DMV. What I did last week there with my trailer title was take a number, then go get the truck serviced for the trip then go get it fueled then go back and still wait an hour. Then the trailer title is still not correct, so I have to send it to CA for a new affidavit that has the notary complete. I took it on the trip anyway with the 4 year old CA plate. Fortunately I didn't get stopped or followed by any patrol.
