Default Thunderhill Race Report!!!!

Just got home from a HOT weekend at Thunderhill..... Unfortunately Kibort couldn't make it, but a friend with a turbo Audi did make it....

Casper felt funny on practice Saturday morning, I haven't driven in a bit but it seemed like the tail was extra "wiggly"...Casper has ALWAYS been loose...but I figured it was due to a very full gas tank....turns out I was right....as the tank got lower, the handling got much better...much more planted in the rear.... Interesting little bit of info.....after qualifying, you are mandated to go through tech and get weighed in....2877lbs. Last session of the day was a 30 min race. Fuel gauge showed right about 1/2. After the race, it was under 1/4 but above red (red mark, no warning light)....after the race I was 2830lbs..... So I burned 47lbs of fuel in a 30 min race!!!! I estimate that to be almost 8 gallons!!!

Enough technical talk, I got 2nd in class on Saturday and 1st in class on Sunday.... The race on Saturday was fun, the 1st place car in class was much faster than me (1:55's) so I was left in no mans land.....three well driven PTE miata came up to me, so I let them by to watch them battle and figured I would follow them and pass them for the checker.... Talk about a battle.....smoking tires under braking, lots of sliding from over-understeer, bump drafting (yes they hit each other to be faster on the straight)....a pass under yellow that got one guy DQ'd & a contact in T14....very exciting....

Sunday's race was less eventful....other than being STUPID HOT.....I was seriously debating going in early.....I don't have a cool suit and it was unreal hot.....right after the race I got in my scion and turned on the AC...the dash read 124F.....I think outside was about 104F....

Well done Brian! Didn't know the plural of Miata. Learned something new today.

Sounds like Fun Brian. sorry i missed it. just couldnt pull it off. doing the SCCA race in Sept at t-hill which should be fun . (bringing the kids and stuff)

yeah, been there and done that with the 104s at t-hill over an entire weekend, AND did the Tent thing. pretty misrible. thank god for the hotel pool we went and visited some friends staying there after the race.
actually, if you pit under the overhang, its not too bad.

Great driving Brian,

Those spec Miatas are no joke. They have serious creds..

Keep up the good fight!
