Default Best Factory Alarm Bypass Method??

Need to bypass my factory alarm in my '83S. Tried jumper btwn pin 1-3 (87a-15) did not work.

My project required that I remove the dash, glove box, radio and door switches, since doing this the car will crank and not start.
Then it completely stopped cranking as well. No noise whatsoever when turning the key.
I know it is the alarm and did the search..
I think I read somewhere that bypassing the alarm can be done in a better way than jumping pins 1-3 at alarm control box.
Thanks in advance. -Matt

Hi Matt,

When I was fixing my factory alarm, I noticed that even if the alarm was tripped, I was able to start the car when I wasn't supposed to be able to. After investigation, I noticed that a previous owner had jumped two wire from the eletric panel so the EZK relay would get power when the alarm is tripped. Looking at the wiring diagram I think the B23 and F25 were the wire who got jumped. Maybe would could try it or get confirmation from somebody else.

Hi Matt, forgot to tell you that this diagram is for an 87 S4. I don't know if it's the same for the 83 S.

Hi Matt,
On my 84 US you go to the Z-plug in the center lower edge of the central electric panel. Pull the Z-plug, and jumper Z-4 to Z-6 on the panel. There are other suggestions but I know this one works and I'm pretty certain it's the same for your car.
Good luck,
Dave

Just went out and jumped as per your advice, fired up on the first turn. Case closed. Turc thanks to you as well.

Dave thank you again,

You are welcome, Matt.
I found the wiring diagram in the supplemental material for the 1983 current flow diagrams. I used it when I added my keyless entry, remote start, which I love.

Interesting that it worked.... The stock alarm does not stop the car cranking, it stops the fuel pumps or ignition - so will crank but not fire - as you first described...

You likely have some other gremlin causing the no crank - maybe got disturbed when you were working on it and restored again when doing this jumper... I'd be careful though...

On no model year does the stock alarm disable the starter.

I know very strange, but that is what happened, it had me worried too. Initially it would crank and want to fire up and die as it is supposed to happen.
Then it just wouldn't do anything, dead.

Jumped Z4-Z6 as per Dave's instruction, and all is well again.

This was the first time my 928 did not crank or start for me immediately and the second time Dave's help has saved me hours..
