Default 17x9 Front Wheels

I'm looking for a 255/275 square setup for my 86.5 DE/Track 928. My 235mm fronts and 255 rears are okay, but I really need more front grip.

Are there any factory or aftermarket 17x9 wheels with a 60-70m offset in 5x130 that anybody knows about?

After hours of research, everything I find that wide is a 55mm or lower offset, which results is various issues from what I read. I did find mention of an elusive 70mm offset 17x9 Cup wheel, but I don't see any currently for sale...and besides, it's a track car and I really don't want anything "rare" on the car.

Video for anybody interested:

TIA!

Chris

There are some aftermarket turbo twist replica 10x18 et65's floating around that some have mounted 265's up front for track use.

Discount Tire blew out their inventory of these wheels a few years ago for about $60 each.

They pop up once and a while and are usually sell for $100 or less each.

Thanks, Hacker. Do you happen to know if they're hollow?

Oh no, not that that price.
They are on the heavy side (I bought 6 of them) but not terrible. I have two other sets of aftermarket Porsche wheels that weigh more, and are narrower.

Here are some real ones (not sure if hallow)

Or you have these, too bad it's an ad from 2009 (yes, I'm posting a link to Pelican.......)

These would work if you find another set for sale:

I'm just searching ebay and goolge for "Porsche et70" and "Porsche et65" to see what comes up.

Ah, good call. I was searching by wheel size, not offset. Thank you!

I found my 17x9 ET70 Cup II's at a speed shop in Germany through a Google search using the part number: 993.362.128.01 You'll see them on UK and German eBay fairly often. Google Translator is your friend. I was fortunate that a fellow Rennlister (Schocki) was in the area. I wired him the money and he personally inspected, paid, and shipped them to me.

This particular wheel was part of the winter wheel package for the rear of the 911 circa 1995. They're more common in Europe as they tend to use their Porsches year 'round more than people here.

I'm running 255/40's, which is what the factory ran. BTW - my rear wheels are 18x10 ET47 Cup II replicas currently running 285/35's.

FWIW, I bought the tirerack blowout of 18x10 and 18x11 Moda wheels a while back. They give the car the balance I'm looking for, but the weight of those boat anchors hurt my lap time by 2 seconds at California Speedway (infield).

These, but in 18":

You may be lucky and find something that sort of does what you want it to do for you but invariably there will be a pentalty in weight. The hard fact is that if you want to run "big wheels" you need an appropriately specified set- there are countless threads on this topic- and this invariably means a set of three piece forged centre wheels and new, the cost [new] is going to be in the region of $5k to $6k minimum.

The optimal spec for a stock 928 is 9.5 inch fronts with ET68 and 10 inch rears with ET60 then you can run 265's up front and 295's on the rear. Even then up front you need to restrain the steering with an additional spacer each side of the rack to avoid contact.

The Speedlines that look stock are fine wheels but they weigh a ton with the mass needed to support such offset/width. This is where 3 piece wheels come into their own as weight wise they amount to no more than stock wheels [mine weigh about 10kg with tire mounted]. Such wheels are quite rare to come by on the s/h market and if you do find them the question i whether you would want them.

Regards

I run an aftermarket wheel, ROH Sekta. It is 17*9.5 60mm offset. They are no longer stocked for a Porsche fitment by the company I purchased them from, Group A Wheels but they do still sell them for Corvette fitment so they still are produced. They were used by 944 guys as rear wheels. You might want to check the 944 forum. At 9.5" wide a 255/40 is the smallest tire I would reccommend, a 265/40 will fit under a rolled front fender.
