Thanks Erkka, but I'm not wrong the question here it is the opposite, isn't? It's an engine code from a S4 with a gearbox of a GT, and I just found this combination in CS's.... Do you know another models with it?

Sorry, I meant only M637 option cars. Not one you're looking.

Its basically same as M28.43/44. Only difference is low compression pistons. If needed you can use US 32V S parts.

The SE's also have a M48/41 "SP" with the G28/55 gearbox, even if the PET tells something else. But they are 1988 model-year cars.

Regarding the Spanish car, KS840364, I don't know anything about it, but I doubt it is a real CS.
Mainly because Porsche once wrote to a friend 7 1989 CS's were produced and we can find all of them just with the M637 option code.
But also, a 1989 CS MUST have at least these options:
I167: Bridgestone tires (RE-71)
M220: Locking differential
M393: Forged wheel 8/9JX16
M474: Sport shock absorbers
M637: Club-Sport

Ferri, please send me a PM and I will tell you the clues to identify a real 1989 CS.

Assuming that it is very difficult that were a CS, question would be with what model matches, a S4 or a GT?

Well, if the M28/41 engine and G28/55 are original, it is not a standard model.

In 1989, in Europe:
M28/41+G28/12: Manual S4
M28/42: Automatic S4
M28/41+G28/55+M637: CS
M28/47+G28/55: GT

I use to say, "never say never regarding Porsche" but I'm more than surprised.
Please send me pictures and any piece of informations regarding this car by email.

Thank you

Let me gather all info I've got and I'll share with you... The man who I bought it insists that it is a GT :-)

It can't be a production GT. Pre-production maybe?
But I don't see the point of doing a pre-production GT when the CS was produced.

A real 1989 GT has these options:
I167: Bridgestone tires (RE-71)
M220: Locking differential
M393: Forged wheel 8/9JX16
M474: Sport shock absorbers
M639: GT

The engine is a M28/47 85K
Gearbox: G28/55 2K

I have more trust into the trunk sticker than the PET...

That would not be the first mistake found.

Thanks everybody,

It could be a GT preproduction car, since was sold in September 88' which means probably was manufactured in mid 88' maybe?

It doesn't make sense to me a replacement of transmission, I've never seen that. If a replacement is done usually is marked in vehicle technical card, but not replacing the original label. For example in my 996 C4S engine was replaced by a M96.03S instead of original M96.03; the modification appears in technical card, but label remains original

First ROW GT in PET data is WP0ZZZ92ZKS841332. Thats very long way from KS840364 in VIN numbers but not in calendar days. Next thing to check is actual gearbox if its G28/55 or G28/12. If its G28/55 and serial number is '89 MY and close to same as in CS made in same period then it must be original. Another useful check is to get certificate from Porsche to see what it says. Exact engine number is also interesting. Is it M28/41 SP or just M28/41.
