Anyone know of a 928 mechanic in the Herndon, VA area? My '88 S4 wouldn't re-start today at the Herndon Post Office. I had to leave it there and catch a flight to Dallas, so I need to tow it to a local mechanic to try and get it running again before the Post Office gets it towed. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Seats are in. Carpet done. Door panels, roof, and rear hatch to go. Still has no front or rear clips, headlights, fender liners or door hardware.....and one day to get it done.

Roger. I will be there no matter if the 928 is done. I can always drive the 997.....but I spent too much time on the 928 to not drive it.

Well....bad news. The 928 is not going anywhere. When i got to the shop tonight I found the battery was dead....which I charged yesterday???? Once I popped the hood I found the issue. Guess what.....yep...the headlight motor arm was shoved into my radiator. I guess when I was installing the dash/pod....I checked to be sure the dash lights worked....the motor did its thing..but no headlights were in the car so right into the radiator.

We pulled the radiator tonight and I am going to have it soldered....and hope to get it back wednesday. I am not going to give up....but I am still concerned that I have not had the car on the road in 5 years...to put it on a 900 mile trip.

No matter what....I will be there. I guess you will have to accept a 911 guy for the weekend....although my heart is always 928!

That's a very legitimate concern. If it were me, given the depth of the restoration, I wouldn't venture far from my garage until I was absolutely sure that everything had been shaken out.

That's the spirit! Unfortunately I can't make the event. I would have loved to talk to you about this project. So I'll say it here: I admire your dedication & determination to have tried to have this car ready to drive to Frenzy (I just noticed that your post was at 1:18am)
But as Roger says, it's not just about the cars. It's about the people.
So now you can take a relaxing trip, knowing that something that you've overlooked isn't going to rear its ugly head at the most inopportune time.
You can relax at Frenzy, meet folks and talk about your passion - and theirs.

Took the night off. The guy who painted my car worked from 7 AM yesterday until 6PM today trying to get it back together. No break...36 hours. I left him at 12:30 this morning. My radiator, if it can be repaired, will deliver in the morning. He is still has the doors to complete and sunroof to install. Once the doors are in, I can complete the panels. If we get it done tomorrow night...it goes to the shop on Thursday to have the fuel lines replaced, porken chips installed, oil change, and possible axel rebuild. I plan to take it for a 2 hour drive thursday night to test for leaks or any other issues. If all goes well...I am driving it. I have AAA with 200 mile tow.....so I think I could get it somewhere if I needed to. Now....I am a realist so I have my 997 backup plan. Wish me luck as I am so proud of my car....I have to admit....I want to show it off. Wont have my wheels until November...so it will be 95% complete.

200 Mile AAA Tow and a list of Rennlist and 928 OC Members-always comes in handy!

If it breaks at frenzy at least there will be a couple guys there that know what they're doing. However I would suggest against a group tech session!

Registration for this year's 928 Frenzy has been very strong. We have 72 car owners registered and 25 guests. I see a lot of new names on the registration list. So, this is going to be a great opportunity to meet and mingle with other car owners. The weather forecast is looking great, and I'm looking forward to a fun weekend!

Registration is now closed, and the shirt order was placed last week, but we do have a few extra shirts on hand (Med., Large, and XL) in case we have a few late registrants.

Will try to make it but doubt I can. TB/WP job in progress and going nicely. Thanks to Brett and Steve for their help and lending of tools Makes the job so much easier.

Biggest challenge at the moment is cleaning all the caked on crud that's everywhere on the front engine. Simple green and brake clean and I'm still working at it. Decided to replace the cam and oil pump gears after all so that's on the plate.

However, I somehow over looked the tensioner gasket so I need to get one from Roger ASAP. Hope to get her back together at the end of the weekend and turn that key and pray I did it right. Then when that's done and she'll still up in the air, flex plate check and PKlamp install. New Ford injectors that I got new off ebay for a good price. And then the transmission.
