Have you tried blowing compressed air thru them? Just did mine last night (same symptoms) they work great now! I just placed the air nozzle on the outside blowing in thru the tubes, water then blew out the opposite side. The little jet eyelets can also be moved to angle them tword the window. Just use a small pic or screwdriver and gently nudge them into the disired angle.

It's a freakishly complex system, just to accommodate the IMO worthless high intensity wash system. Pull it all out and just run the regular wash system.

I can try disconnecting the intensive system. I have run new lines, new low angle "y" and all new check valvles (eliminating two of them in the process). I can try to eliminate the intensive system and see what that does tomorrow. I still would like the better spray pattern afforded by these fluidic nozzles.

I have run compressed air backwards and forwards through the nozzles to no avail.

I eliminated the intensive system. Still flows like it needs a prostate drilling.

Do the subaru ones work on an older car like my 90? Are the washer nozzles different shapes for different years in the subarus?

I'd be willing to try the Subaru ones if there are part numbers and they fit.

[QUOTE=KenRudd;10648544]And the Bowles Fluidics sure look like the right _shape_ for a 928 hood opening, or to be inserted into an old 928 nozzle "bracket" with minimal modification.

I emailed Bowles today asking if they would be willing to help us find one of their products that would fit out hoods. You could always eliminate the bottom cover on the hood and have a "u" bend in the hose to make a straight connection work.

I never heard back from Bowles. Does anyone have a suggestion for these types of nozzles for my hood? It once again is crappy weather here and I NEED wipers with washers that function.

I am at my wits end regarding this system.

Are the Subaru nozzles heated?

Thanks

Lose the check valves and see what that does. Mine give a lot of back pressure when I blow through them, but I still get enough flow. If you want to keep the fluid from draining back to the tank you can run one check valve before the Y.
The opening on our hoods is bigger than the older ones. I still haven't found anything that works.

The ones I put on my car are not heated. I don't drive the car in the cold, I have no need for heated washer fluid.

Can somebody advise how the original nozzles come out of the hood please? One of the LHS nozzles does nothing, and I cant even see the hole at all. I have an inspection coming up, and these thing must work. Nothing at all in the WSM that I can find.

JP,
Did you try compressed air from under the hood to blow out the debris?
Usually works in clearing anything lodged in the nozzle.

The blocked nozzle was REALLY solid, no way to c,lear it without a .020" drill or similar. The hose pushed straight on, not at an angle. No way I could squeeze the retainers in with pliers ....In the end I found a piece of steel tubing that would slip over the barbs, then gradually squeezed the tube flatter until it started to push the barbs back, and finally it came out. To get through my inspection I have put in a unit I could get easily locally, but will try to locate some better ones when I have time. Maybe even fluidics..

I know this thread is a bit stale, but by pure luck I stumbled across this:
http://www.google.com/patents/US5934565.

Washer jet nozzle for a vehicle
US 5934565 A
ABSTRACT
A nozzle for dispensing a liquid jet, in particular for washing vehicle wscreens or headlight fronts. The nozzle includes a feed duct and at least two outlets each communicating with the feed duct via a respective communication hole. At least one of the outlet ducts is inclined relative to the feed duct, and each of the feed duct and the outlet ducts is substantially rectilinear. The nozzle further comprises a partition occupying at least a portion of the feed duct adjacent to the outlet ducts so as to subdivide the feed duct into compartments each of which communicates with a respective communication hole. The partition has the function of preventing non-uniform transit of the liquid into the outlet ducts.
