My '86.5 auto leaks, too, although I didn't follow my own instructions, below, when I hurriedly installed the PKT on it, many years ago..
(It also leaks from the crank seal, even though I installed a new one.)

That bolt hole is difficult to seal. I've thought about using a 8mm stud there, instead.

FYI - the oil galley the bolt hole goes into is a return passage from the head to the pan.

The WSM specifies Loctite 574 for that bolt. Would that seal any better than silicone, if there is a bit of oil on the threads?

Dont put the silicone at the end of the bolt, put it a few threads from the end so there is less chance of debris getting in the engine. Ive had one leak in the past and it's the one I didn't use some Victor-Reinz on.

Pretty common issue, independent of the tensioner (or in the case of the stock part - DE tensioner)
used. Oil, there be, behind that bolt hole, and oil always finds a way... to leak.

Ive used thread sealer on these bolts for the Porkensioners installed; no leaks so far on 4 tensioners.

Rob,
Curious as to what Malcolm is referring to.
Loctite comes to mind.

I wanted to add that I thought my P-tensioner bolt was leaking, and it ended up being the o-ring for the dipstick.

First time I went down the road, the fans or just airflow from driving blew the oil up and all over the place. I wiped everything down, and could clearly see it was the dipstick leaking where it goes into the oil pan.....

I replaced with a new oil ring, and no more leaks. P-tensioner has been on for a year.

Yep, replaced that o-ring a few years ago too. It was leaking. Not anymore. Putting the UV dye in your oil is a great way to find the leaks!

Just installed the porken myself, put the sealant on the bolt, new o ring on dip stick, should wrap everything up soon and find out if I have any leaks. With all the PKT's out there more than likely any leak is a op error, not the pkt.
