I've seen flattened lobes in 1 engine.
In the pictures provided there is only 1 lobe I see which I would want fixed.

Partial hijack: I've got a set of GTS cams that were in a nice enough shape that I didn't have the heart to experiment with (i.e., destroy) them. I'll sell them if someone wants to restore a GTS. If someone wants to just drive a fun car, these are not the cams to use -- put in much bigger cams with more overlap and have more fun.

Oh yes, I'm not saying it isn't possible.....if it is made out of metal and inside an engine, it will break or wear out, sooner or later.

Just saying it is not very common and that people with small pits, in their cams, should not be concerned.

The 4-valve spring loads, valvetrain weights, tappet diameters, and camshaft accelrations are such that it's difficult to get stresses there that would wear the cam lobes. However, 2-valve heads are a completely different story.

But I used some 400 grit scotch brite pads like these

So that said I dont think your cams are that bad but it is also hard to tell in a picture.
Also as you can see, most of the embedded material in the cans will polish off.

My 2 cents

.

Let's see them in 10,000 mi.
With a couple of UOA readings.

Denial is ok, as you're a good swimmer.

Wondering if there are any long-term updates available for this pitting situation as I find myself in a similar spot, small pits on the nose of the lobes.

Really nothing much to worry about, or something that a light polish can take care of?
