The seats are definitely '84. The VIN is WP0JB0924FS860385, so not a Euro and it is an '85 according to Scouser's VIN decoder.
If I go any further with this car I will get the engine code next visit.

Check the VIN on the fender too, about a foot or so from windshield there is a cut out where the fender bolts to the frame and a stamped VIN.

Outside USA 16v sold through 86.

Hmmm.... Have prices been going up? I paid around 7k for my 86.5, 6 years ago and that was high, even for a car that made a cross country drive to get it home. I can Hardly imagine buying one if these that can't be started. But I may (hopefully) be behind times.
