I imagine you have already tried it, but I was able to get the last bit of needed headroom in my track car by reclining the seat further than I would normally choose to.

Congrats on both.
Thank you. Next time you're headed this way, let me know. Maybe we can get Porken to buy us a beer.

So, as promised I moved the seats today. Gave me a good 1/2" of additional headroom.
Still, if I move upright to fast, bam, straight into the roof. I'm really not that tall, so I guess the paddin on the seats must be extra plentiful.
I have what I believe to be 8-way power seats.
I guess next step is the manual seats!

I'm only 6'2 and had the same problem in my 87 with a sunroof (with standard "comfort" seats). I could drive, but any speed bumps or forgetfulness and I'd bonk the roof.

Having an extended-hub steering wheel didn't really help - it just means you can lie further back, but still not a great driving position.

The solution was to find another no-sunroof 928.. the difference in headroom is huge - about 2.5" more than a sunroof car.

In our country we are not allowed to import cars over 10 years old, bonkers law really, but there nonetheless. So basically I'm "stuck" with my 928! I really like this car and would not like to sell it on the headroom issue alone. I'm only 5-11.5 and still hitting the roof.r
Guess ill keep trying until a solution is found.

Picked up some hardback 997 sport seats that do sit a bit lower and deleted the sunroof while in for paint. I do see some boxster seats (soft back) on sale for between $ 500-800 on RL For Sale now & then. T

Those seats look Really good, did you have to modify the rails or did they bolt right in?

Thx

I removed the sunroof and installed a fixed, non-moving custom-made moonroof, and removed the headliner.

Might have gained around 1 1/2 inch more headroom.

I'm pretty sure the seats are modified. I also own a 08 987 and tried fitting one of the seats into my 928 and the rails we're a no go. Couldn't swap rails either.

MJ, Sorry I missed your question back on post # 24 above. IIRC, they bolt right in with slight modification to the wiring under the drivers seat. T

Tony, I couldn't fit my 987 seats into my GTS.
What rails did you use? 987/997?
I'd love to do those seats in my car, they look amazing.

Used the rails that came with the seats. IIRC they were 997 sport seats. T

Took the seats off a 997 and could not fit them into the 928. Beyond my mechanical abilities probably.
Gave up and will look into fitting a set of Cobra or Recaro seats sometime in the future.
