Default Strange Interior Lighting problem

Got one I can not figure out, the interior lights work when the passenger door or the rear hatch are opened but not when the drivers door is opened, and I have lost the radio display too, however the radio works. I have power to the drivers door switch and power at all the interior lights, Any ideas what to look for, I'm stumped.

Do this first,
disconnect the battery,

remove all of the interior lamps from the respective positions,

heat shrink the positive wire ends and the grounds .

then scrub the lights out with a soapy tooth brush so they will be brighter,

install them noting that they should all be wired the same way,

NOTE pay attention to the center lamp wires ( over the mirror) see if they have gotten cut from how they were routed to the center.

NOTE the hatch wire colors are different.

remove the pin switches from the door jambs clean them .

Inspect the wire for the left door pin switch make sure its grounding after you remove the switch from the jamb

remove the right side console cover and inspect the clock and radio wires for shorting out.

Replace the fuse for the lights.

Clean the chassis ground .

Connect the strap and see if the lights and radio function as they should.

The door switches work by obtaining a ground to turn the lights on. So if you have power at the driver's switch do you have a ground also? Just a thought...

Does the reminder sound when you open the door with the keys in the ignition and in the accessory position? If not, I'm guessing the door switch is stuck in the door closed position or is otherwise broken in some way which keeps the circuit open all the time.

Have you checked the door switch at the door?
I suspect it might be bad.

You can go straight to the door pin and try to figure it out... or you can do what MrMerlin (Stan) says and walk through the step by step procedure. It takes some time, but it eliminates each possible candidate systematically so you know what is done correctly and what is not... And later down the road you wont be chasing interior lighting / grounding issues. He knows what he's talking about!

Same issue for me turned out to be bad ground at housing over mirror. Good advice above!
