87s4. Pass window down no up
87s4.
Windows....drivers go up and down. Passenger went down then no go up.
I assume if one is working fuse and relay is ok...I checked fuse and it is 30 amp...
Just making sure that if one works and one doesn't....means either switch or connection wire or motor?
I tried to take switch cover off...and couldn't...do they pry off with screwdriver? I did not want to break it.
I do hear a click on depressing but window does not go up...
What's to best way to troubleshoot and remove switch?

If you hear a clicking at the lower front of the door then it's your window motor. You might be able to beat on it and get a bit more time on it but plan on replacing it.

Motor probably done. You may get it to work by holding the window up button and a few scientific smack on the bottom forward portion of the door panel. Over time water corrosion gets to the motor. Best to seek a used one on eBay or our sponsors for new/used motors.

Does the volt meter show a drop when you push the switch? If not, it's the switch (No power being drawn). If it drops significantly, then it's probably the motor (Power is going to the motor, but it doesn't move).

I'm reviving this thread, this past Monday my window fell off the roller, the following day when I got back from work I took apart my door and tried to see what had happened, so I went ahead and put the window arm all the way down, and then I just tried to put it back up and it didn't work-.- I tried my passenger and it worked fine.
Here's the tricky park, I took out the drivers side switch and only the top part pop off and I could see where the connected so I cleaned them and still no go, no noise on my motor. So I switched switches with the passenger again the top of the switch came out. And it didn't work, when I placed the passenger switch back that window stopped working as well?????? What could it beee?-.- I'm saving up to do replace a lot of parts in October and this would be the time to add anything if needed??

Up through year 1989 the configuration is simple. A single window relay provides power to both windows through one fuse and to the sunroof through another. The power goes to the switches for each window - which are polarity reversing - so the 2 wires from the switch to the motor are either at the same voltage (ground) when not activated - then either one or the other gets switched to 12(+)v when you activate the switch. For the window motor to work on one side (L/R) but not the other means the relay and fuse are good. Leaving the switch, wiring and motor as suspects.
For the motor to work one way (e.g. down) but not the other (up) the wiring to the switch is certainly good and the wiring from the switch to the motor must likely be good* leaving the switch and the motor as most likely.
If the motor works one way then the brushes & motor can work - so the switch is the most likely failure point. The brushes do sometimes work better one way than the other when severly worn - or may have issues at particular points in the travel window (due to worn/corroded commutator) - so can still be a suspect. But I'd start with the switch.
In your case you did this - and a swap of a know working switch is a good idea - however now that neither window works - start over - it may now be the fuse...
* Evaluate if the fuse blows again - if so one motor wire may be shorted to ground - this allows operation in one direction but not the other (since in one direction it would be grounded anyway) - however this seem unlikely because if the original switch ever worked - you'd already have had a blown fuse...
Check the switch connectors you unplugged/replugged - did any connectors come loose?

Both switches where working until my window fell out the roller, it might've pulled something on the way down? But I didn't disconnect any wires only cleannned the contacts inside the switch, I did it on both before I swapped and after, I have not checked my fuses after both windows are not working but I will be doing so tomorrow, how do I test the switches if they still work?
I tried the reset part but it was a no go. Should I disconnect the battery and connect it again just to do a hard rest as I call it:P
