I bought a counterfeit pump unknowingly. It was noisy but functional. I ordered a replacement from Roger that was quiet and smooth as silk. They looked identical, but the was small telltales besides the noise.

Great points! The counterfeit didn't cross my mind so much as that it may be really, really old inventory that is being liquidated. Which either way you don't want it on your car.

I wouldn't mind NOS, not even 'NROS' (New Really Old Stock). As long as it wasn't stored in a 'hostile environment'', there shouldn't be much problem with an old, unused pump (at least I don't think so).

The counterfeit issue is the big problem.
And, as Roger notes, this one lacks markings the real one should have.
