How about the in-tank pumps? They are pretty spendy now as Porsche parts. And is the suction strainer for the in-tank pump available as a separate part?

It would seem that an nice reliable 'murican in-tank pump would be a solution to both pumps. Quieter too, swimming in the fuel and all. Meanwhile, original fitment is still my favorite option.

Far from an inexpensive but with factory pumps costing $914 this is an option. I have 1 very slightly used in tank pump. It is a late production with the billet fitting

All kinds of deals can be found. However it's better to stick with 928 suppliers for hobbyist. If you really do your research you can do better sometime, but is it really worth the risk and trial & error?

I usually go by oem numbers and get the part from a good source at the lowest price possible. I'm a pastry cook fresh out of college, I try to make every $ count.

I normally give my big Porsche part orders to our suppliers but sometimes the dealer can be cheaper. I normally use Jim Ellis/ Porsche Atlanta Perimeter for this.

I just don't share super low cost parts that severely undercut our suppliers like Laso WP on Parts Geek. I got one there for my 81 for $175 shipped last year.

What trial and error? How is a part number that is the same thing I would have gotten from a 928 Supplier, rolling the dice?

I'm not knocking anyone and I try to spread the love to 928 Specialists, 928sRus and 928 International. But honestly, why would I not buy a fuel pump that is "cheaper than Roger can get it" ... his words not mine about Amazon pricing. Or why wouldn't I buy something from Einmalig or Sierra Madre Collection, if it was significantly less (like more than 15%) and was NEW.

I started this thread because non-928 suppliers have overstocks and periodically have a need to dump 928 related items. The items are generally new and warranted, so is it a big deal if we tell people about these deals?

^^ I've bought stuff from Einmalig and met them in person.

Fantastic people and great to do business with. They just moved to a new building as well to expand even more.

They have all kinds of NLA stuff buried away.

On the in-tank pump the main failure point is normally the rubber hose between the boss and the pump - we sell a GB kit to repair that and you continue to use the pump.

I would have posted my deal but 2 PEOPLE here already took advantage of it and jacked up the price!

Ya'll know who you are, and I expect commission in the form of cigars and/or bourbon.

So, maybe this was already posted, but it seems that Bosch fuel pump 69471 (aka 928.608.104.01) has fallen from around $150 down to $40.
I believe this pump fits all USA '80-86. (Which I think is odd, since 85/86 moved to LH Jet.)
Anyway, Amazon sent me a price alert (which was very 'big brother' since I didn't sign up for one!):

Hi Jason,
Notice that are no markings on the so called Bosch pump - that smacks of Chinese knock off at that price.
Buyer be ware.

Counterfeit Parts are a real problem, you cannot trust even some of the biggest suppliers like Rock Auto and especially Amazon:

https://www.ratchetandwrench.com/art...parts-provider
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shippi...qaq-p/23662628
https://norcalrecord.com/stories/511...t-parts-online
https://www.loftware.com/blog/battle...emains-ongoing

Current thread in OT:
https://rennlist.com/forums/off-topi...verywhere.html

This problem is only getting worse, so best stick with known suppliers that specialize in our cars. Saving a few bucks today could cost a lot tomorrow.

Glad to know that two others, who are much more into the subject than I am (especially Roger) had the 'counterfeit' thought.

One reason I tend to stay away from Amazon & E-Bay.
