Sharks been gone but I'll have another.....
I've been meaning to write this but the Porsche has been gone for almost 3 weeks now. I went a route that I wasn’t expecting but I got into another toy, this time I went with one that my girl can drive here and there so it won’t just sit while I’m traveling. While I was going through the selling process I found out that Carfax did an upload of “older cars” and what I thought was a clean carfax car now had a pretty big smudge on it. STOLEN……it was stolen in 2001 and it shows on carfax the date and “carfax started reporting this issue 02/2013”. Not that I put too much stock in carfax because a wrecked car can easily have a clean history but once I saw the theft reported it urked me a little. I traded the car in at a Mercedes Benz dealer on a one owner 1998 Mercedes Benz SL500, triple black with 20k miles on it. Another one of my favorite body styles besides the 928. I haven’t driven it too much but it really is a sweet car, it’s actually pretty much a brand new car. The Benz dealer wholesaled it out and now it's on ebay and advertised with a CLEAN CARFAX...haha, what the hell?? I will definitely have another 928 within the next couple of years but this time I will look for a 5spd as I felt the car was way too sluggish with the auto. Anyway, I still have some parts and I’ll go through my PM’s and offer them to the members that reached out to me in the order I received them. If no takers I'll create a new thread to sell what's left.
Not sure if you care or not but you might want to see if carfax has some secrets revealed on your rides. Unfortunately some people look at carfax as gold but I think it’s pretty much useless. If anything I just use it to see consistency with mileage and locations/dates (make sure it’s not a Katrina or now a Sandy car).
I’m not going anywhere as the 928 is and always will be one of my all time favorites and I will have a another one in the near future.
Be easy with the comments on the SL! It really is a fast, sharp and fun car! Especially on a nice night with the top down! Actually, it’s a lot faster than my 928 was. I’m not saying “all”, I’m saying mine.
