1500 miles in 2 days...s4
I flew to Boston on Thursday night and picked up an 87 s4 with 44k miles. The car was originally owned by an older woman in Dallas and bought by an enthusiast in Boston. Pretty much all original except upgraded radio--nicely done.
Other than a cracked dash and pod, the interior is excellent .
My impressions of the 928: wow, this car was built for
long drives. I had no idea it was this comfortable.
This is my second 928. The first
I never drove more than 100 miles in 1 day. The 928 is much more comfortable than my 911 4S. I even have the energy to stop and visit an old gf in Arkansas!

I took some heat from K for driving non-stop from Dallas from the OCIC a few years ago. 21 hours (I stuck to the speed limit pretty much) was just a walk in the park. It's what they are made for, and why we own them.

I've driven mine for 26 years and the greatest time was on the autobahn where you didn't have to worry about the gendarme (unless you were really doing something spooky). Indeed, they are comfortable cars but they do tend to draw extra attention from the cops here in the good ol' USA.

I have driven almost 1000 miles in a (long but comfortable) day - this car is certainly made for it...
Drove through the night - got home at 2pm and caught an international flight to London at 9pm
I was confident - my wife was at least a little concerned...

928s are awesome road cars. High speed, passing quickly, decent mpg and super comfortable and roomy. I drove a 928S back from Cali to WA in two days. It had been sitting for three years and still was more fun then all the Toyota camrys I passed. Even though they are now quicker through the quarter mile. ;(

Drove 1200 miles from MN to PA in a GM econobox rental and my back was so sore I could hardly sit, stand, or walk.
Drove that same 1200 miles back in the 86.5 with no problems whatsoever, could have gone more.
Left MN at 3 PM Thursday and got back at 10 AM Saturday.
Spent the rest of the weekend epoxying my shop floor.

I did the opposite. I flew to Seattle to pick up my 87 . Drove 4 K to get it back to Virginia. Tom M. here on the list gave me thumbs as I was leaving Seattle. Found out it was Tom M. a couple weeks later after joining the list in my introduction tread like this one.
Small World. Car was great on the long drive!

When I drove back, I only spotted one 928, a white one, old boy I think. He was heading east on I40 in Oklahoma, I was going west. I don't think he saw me.
Interestingly, the siting was near Earlsboro, OK, and I had just spent an overnight with our very own 928 expert extraordinaire, "Capt Earl" (Earl Gillstrom) near Philadelphia. He graciously agreed to do a bunch of work on my car before I headed out.
