Hi 
Load of tosh in this thread from people who don't have remote start on a 928...
I do...
Top of the range Clifford 650 alarm with the following...
Remote start with audio warning (Step away, remote engine starting)
Remote all lock and all unlock (Doors) with Audio warning...
Remote all open and all close (Windows and Sunroof) linked to one touch Windows/Sunroof switches from here...
Anti Hijack system - linked to remote start to prevent theft...
Interior Microphone and exterior speaker (to talk to hijackers I think lol)
Spare circuits on remote to add other things...
I use one for a remote Purge on my Nitrous...
Various other add ons....
And ALL have worked perfectly for around 4 years now with absolutely NO problems at all....
I use the remote start in the winter, to prewarm the car/engine before I drive it...
NEVER a problem with it, NO bust hoses ...nothing...
To the original OP...go for it, it improves the 928s electrics, drastically...
Cost a few years ago in the UK, was around £1000 including fitting...and IMHO ...worth EVERY penny...

And do you have any pics to show how/where you connected you alarm to the factory wiring?

^^^this is a fuel saving measure (manual copy regarding idle) , same is written in my 2004 Cayenne manual. It's a 'green thing'.
But I agree 100% with Mr. Bailey, in that with any older car starting remotely is done at your own risk.
Make sure your Insurance is up to date.

If you plan on working on your car and not having anyone else do it in the future, go for it.
If not, please don't make the jobs of those of us who work on them any harder than it already is on these cars. I have removed plenty of these hack jobs, I've also installed a lot of them and there is a right way and a wrong way. If you look at my personal car, I don't have any of that Micky Mouse bull**** on it and there is a reason for it.

No pics as a Pro alarm fitter did the job....AFTER stipping out the original HP alarm system that WAS playing up and immobilising the car at odd times and for no particular reasons...
Improves the electrics.... REMOTE starting, autoclose/autoopen.
Etc etc...
If I bought a second 928 , I would have a Clifford added instantly....

No pics as a Pro alarm fitter did the job....AFTER stipping out the original HP alarm system that WAS playing up and immobilising the car at odd times and for no particular reasons...
Imroves the electrics.... REMOTE starting, autoclose/autoopen.
Etc etc...
If I bought a second 928 , I would have a Clifford added instantly....

Steve (the alarm fitter) is a friend of mine, so yes the quality of the fitters work is very important on a 928, but my Clifford is a Thatcham Class 1 so any reputable company should do it properly...
Maybe "improved" is the wrong word, but on a freezing cold morning in the snow, pressing my remote start from inside my house, and warming the car is a nice addition to the electrics lol

Your factory alarm is worthless because it's broken. If you repaired it (or maybe just used the correct key), you'd find that not only does the alarm sound when any door is opened but it also keeps the car from being started.
