^^^this is a fuel saving measure (manual copy regarding idle) , same is written in my 2004 Cayenne manual. It's a 'green thing'.
But I agree 100% with Mr. Bailey, in that with any older car starting remotely is done at your own risk.
Make sure your Insurance is up to date.
Who here has added an aftermarket alarm with remote start? Was it very difficult, as in any 928 specific problems that you ran into? Any particular brand/model that you would recommend? How about push button start anyone have this feature?
Many have added push button start, but only as a hack when the ignition switch was fubar...lol

I follow this on my older cars, but on the newer ones (2001 audi and 2004 touareg) I don't. They have better engine management systems. (That, and they are disposable to me. just DD's

I am not as sure as you about this. Idling an older car will produce carbon deposits as it tends to run rich. Newer cars have much better control over the fuel system to prevent that. Interesting that it is in your Cayenne manual, though. You may be right.
If you plan on working on your car and not having anyone else do it in the future, go for it.
If not, please don't make the jobs of those of us who work on them any harder than it already is on these cars. I have removed plenty of these hack jobs, I've also installed a lot of them and there is a right way and a wrong way. If you look at my personal car, I don't have any of that Micky Mouse bull**** on it and there is a reason for it.
Could you please elaborate on how the alarm system drastically improves the electrics in the 928?
And do you have any pics to show how/where you connected you alarm to the factory wiring?
Hi
No pics as a Pro alarm fitter did the job....AFTER stipping out the original HP alarm system that WAS playing up and immobilising the car at odd times and for no particular reasons...
Improves the electrics.... REMOTE starting, autoclose/autoopen.
Etc etc...
If I bought a second 928 , I would have a Clifford added instantly....
All the best Brett

Sounds like you had a good install and it is working the way it should. I don't know if it improved the vehicle's electrical system.

Hi
Steve (the alarm fitter) is a friend of mine, so yes the quality of the fitters work is very important on a 928, but my Clifford is a Thatcham Class 1 so any reputable company should do it properly...
Maybe "improved" is the wrong word, but on a freezing cold morning in the snow, pressing my remote start from inside my house, and warming the car is a nice addition to the electrics lol
Factory alarm on our cars is much worthless. You can lock it and open the door without the key and it doesn't set off the alarm. Anyways Because aftermarket alarm that works pretty well but that you are able to use the factory remote with.
Your factory alarm is worthless because it's broken. If you repaired it (or maybe just used the correct key), you'd find that not only does the alarm sound when any door is opened but it also keeps the car from being started.
