I tend to do a "Pay it Now" (so I don't forget to pay!), but I have had to fight for money back on e-bay, before, so I know the routine (and the time frames). I usually go the E-bay conflict resolution route, and that has given me good results without having to go through the PayPal mechanisms. I don't know which is better, but I will keep the tip about PayPal in mind.

I swear the seller must work next door to Fed-Ex, though, because I had a tracking number within half an hour (or less) after I bought it!

Frankly... i think 1K for a garden variety nothing special albeit good radiator is ridiculous. Even though i have the money, it's the principle of the thing. If you would have waited you could have picked up a virtually brand new one from a California donor vehicle. I got one for my 87 from Los Angeles Auto Parts, they happen to sell some great used 928 parts from seemingly very low mile donor vehicles.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-928S...477c3f&vxp=mtr

Mine was rougly the same price, only one cooler because i have a 5 speed, no damage whatsoever, all straight fins, all original stickers intact and in good condition, nothing bent, excellent packaging. Like i said virtually brand new. All you have to do is wait, i hate waiting for stuff on eBay, but eventually, what you are looking for will turn up. Like an RMB for my car, i've waited for at least a year now and never saw anything worth buying, but sure enough losangelesautoparts on eBay put a used RMB up last week sometime. Same condition as the rad, nothing wrong with it.

As for what you bought, it looks pretty much like a custom built rad from any generic rad shop. Be neat if it was a copper rad like the old school ones. Deffinitely not genuine...

Stan,

A little laugh? - I nearly wetted my pants! I assumed "Zima Niptuck" was an acronym for "getting screwed up the jacksy".

I am sure by now Carlos has come to know what us old hands know- if you own a 928 you need a really keen sense of humour.

If Carlos does not get his money back perhaps he can send us a link and we can "group bomb" the seller on e-bay?.... guess you have to have actually purchased something from the chap before you can flame him though.

I purchased a couple of analogue gauges from a chap in the UK on e-bay. Great units [vac/temp] -cost me about US$60 and the chap drove about a 100 mile round trip to deliver them to me personally as I was about to catch a plane back over here that evening! I offered to pay him for his petrol and he refused! Doubtless you can get well screwed on e-bay but you can get some great deals as well.

Best wishes to Carlos for a good recovery - keep up the laughs!

Regards

Fred

Sure doesn't look right, so might as well start talking to the seller, but hard to guess what it actually might be until you can see it.

It appears to be a 944 radiator. Same goes for the fans he has listed.

There should be no issues getting a refund and Fedex probably just had the info sent to them. Hopefully you can cancel before they pick it up.

All is well. The seller was embarrassed about the error and gave me a full refund - no questions. Said just send it back without even needing to open it (reimbursed return postage also). He looked up photos of 944 radiators and fans and pulled the fan ad when he realized it was 944 also.

He did say that it came out of a supercharged 928, which made me wonder about such a mod (944 radiator and fans in a 928). I don't think I would want to try it, however. (And wonder what advantage, if any, other than weight, m-a-y-b-e.) As I understand engine cooling systems, it is quite a science (probably derived from that Thermodynamics class I avoided in college which caused even Engineering students to write on walls).

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their quick responses and help (and humor!). Maybe it will teach my e-bay trigger finger to ease up!
