Default What did I get? (e-bay 928 radiator)

So, the Devek radiator has started leaking in the silver car (86.5 Auto with 6.5 stroker). After reading up on aftermarket vs. stock (vs. custom) radiators, I decided I will return the car closer to stock with a stock dual side tank Behr radiator, either new or used.

Every once in a while, I would check e-bay, since good deals do show up there. I saw this, and jumped on it, maybe too quickly:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281090512203...84.m1439.l2648

Pictures from the ebay ad are below.

So, what did I end up with? It said it was from an '85, but the seller also has this ad for a dual electric fan setup that came from an '85 928 also. No 85's came with dual electric fans, right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-1985...item41724ce190

I will ask the seller, but also wanted to hear from the collective.

Thank you, in advance!

That radiator looks different that the ones I saw ('83, '85, '86, 89 and '90). The overflow port is not at the top.

I don't see it working in a 928 based on the apparent hose size fittings but I could be wrong

Those fans aren't from a 928 either. I'm guessing the seller knows nothing about 928's, and bought a cheap parts car which he assumed was full of "original Porsche parts".

You do know you can buy a brand-new Behr one for under $1k?

Well, the seller has a 100% rating. I will assume they care about that when I talk with them.

And I am hoping YOU have one of them, Stan, and badly need a radiator!

Yes.

Jumping on a deal like that - I must be hangin' around the women-folk too much.

Need beer and grime.

Thanks.

Contact the seller and tell them to cancel the transaction as it is not a 928 radiator. Do not pay.

If Stan doesn't have one, I'm sure Jay Leno does!

If you paid via PayPal, work on getting the charges reversed.

Yes Steve your right,
Jay just happens to have a Zima Niptuck he has the SN 2 version and I think its slightly different than the SN 3 version,
that said I think with a hammer and chisel he could make it fit.

Carlos, sorry that you got a bum part,
I hope all will work out in your favor.
The offbeat humor was added so you might get a little laugh out of this,
Please dont be offended, Stan

928intl sells used good rads also.

400 for mine, last year. Works great and just passed the one year used part warranty period. And.....did I mention 928intl serves me great BBQ when I visit them in October. Life is good here in S. Cali. Bless you all at 928intl.

Yep. As soon as I figured I was going the stock route, and what I needed (2-cooler radiator for early cars), I started looking on the 928 International site.

I just thought I found a "too-good-to-be-true" deal on e-bay. Well, I guess I did....

Hmmm, BBQ and used 928 parts - what a great sounding combo!

No worries, Stan - I enjoyed the humor, especially since it was offbeat!
