Hello
Can I have Terry's number too please?
Looking for someone in Dubai to inspect a 928 GTS for me.
Any idea of where he is based?
Any link to his website?

Many thanks
Chronis

Chronis,
Does it happen to be a silver 93 GTS?

Just curious, Have you done anything to help keep the engines cool in the summer. I go to Qatar, and it can be like a convection oven over there. I know that cooling in the Middle east is an issue?

When I first got my car I had issues with cooling, infact I think almost every 928 out here has issues with cooling at first, however it's usually because of some hack or another that has been done to our cars. Mine for example had a copper radiator, and bad thermo seals. Dicty's had a copper radiator and no thermostat!
But now a few of us run performance aluminum radiators which are about 5mm thicker which equates to about a 10% increase in cooling. These are custom built for us here in Dubai, great quality stuff!
However with the stock cooling system properly overhauled there is no problem really, except if you hammer it through the back streets in the middle of summer. Then you might see the temp go up a little bit.
Then there's the AC, which if properly overhauled works fantastic! A couple of guys have opted for slightly bigger condensers, personally, I don't think they're required.

thanks for the info on the cooling. I was living in Fla last year with my 928. It cooled great until one of the fans stopped working. I still have not sorted it out completely, but I built a bypass that seems to work. But if a car can stay cool in Dubai, no one should be complaining, but rather straightening out any cooling issues.

Default Looking for 928

Hi there. I'm looking for a 928 and have seen a red one on dubizzle. Does anybody know about the car and can anybody point me in the right direction to get it checked out. All the best. Robert. 050 6545615

Low mileage and low price should shout suspicion. Could be genuine but you need to check out the history carefully- ask Phil.

I note the "S" on the GTS logo on the rear bumperline sits low- that possibly suggests some bodge artist at work. Look at the paint very carefully- Guards Red and Sunshine do not work well in the Middle East heat unless the car sits under shade all the time- and the result is chronic fading of the pigments. If the paint looks newish find out why asnd whether it is a back street bodge.

A chap here in Oman purchased a red GTS from Dubai that I had seen previously- paid aobut the same asked for this car. It had been in an accident and was repaired poorly. He imported it to Oman and within a year had forked out more than he paid for it and had hardly driven it.

All the usual 928 caveats apply- try and find out who owned & who has looked after the car. Nabooda will not touch these cars unless it is owned by someone with several other Porsches. If you can get the VIN to me I can probably find out something about the Porsche history for you.

There have been a number of low mileage Japanese imports floating around in Dubai recently- nothing particularly wrong with that but history becomes vague.
Not sure if it is the photography but the interior looks awful-different shades of grey suggesting some renewal but not colour balanced.

If you go to have a look at it suggest you ask Terry to take a look for you unless you know the 928 well. If the owner cannot tell you when and where the water pump and timing belt were last changed probably better to walk away from it.

I also note a strange looking switch with a red handle next to the handbrake. Kind of looks like an electrical isolation switch [Battery earth?] but strange location for that.

Good luck.

Fred

***UPDATE***

Car has sold! I don't think the car could have gone to a better buyer, I think he is someone that would appreciate this car!

I'm selling one of Terry's cars on his behalf, it's a '90 S4 with a GT Engine, have a look:http://dubai.dubizzle.com/motors/use...sche-928-s4-2/

I've listed it at around $12,000, I think it's a fair price, what do you guys think?

The only issue I have with this car is that the door cards, seats and steering wheel aren't original. The seats and door cards are included in the sale, but the steering wheel was changed out before it landed in Terry's possession.
