Default Porsche 928 Community Dubai

Our local group is certainly growing and it becomes apparent that there are more 928s in Dubai than we initially thought.

3 cars from our group are missing here
- Gisherton's Purple Pig
- Saddam Hussein's Son's S4 (Had only 2.5K miles on it, but that's another thread all together)
- And a fantastically well looked after and restored Silver 88 S4 http://gulfnews.com/life-style/motor...8-s4-1.1140080

The picture was taken infront of our local Porsche 928 Specialist's house.

No that's Terry's wall haha. We were quite lucky, it was purely by chance that all those cars were there on that morning.

Terry's not on rennlist, he's too old school :P

Now all you need is the best 928 in the Middle East and you've cracked it!

No phoney GTS's allowed

Only kidding! Btw I've planned a weekend trip to Muscat and then down to Wadi Shab and Sur for early June. Will you be around then?

..and you think that a GTS with rubber conrods and an abortion of a breather/oil control system is good? Better to have a well set up S4 motor that goes than a POS that doesn't [LOL ] .

Good catch on Dubizzle by the way- I was tempted when I saw it advertised but figured you guys needed a chance to catch up! Interestingly I was offered that 928 just after I totaled my beautiful [nicer than the GTS] late S4 nearly 7 years ago. The owner was asking too much considering who owned it. Quite a steal assuming you stumped up the advertised ask I reckon.

Hope to meet up with you chaps soon but June -urrgh? I am still having problems with a/c gas leaking- fear it may be the evaporator.

Will be thinking of you chaps tomorrow as I pass through Dubai on my way through to Blighty on business for a few days.

Best wishes- regards to the chaps up there

How many of you guys are members of the 928OC? I think we have a few actually. That is a lot of 928's it seems to me! We don't see that many in Austin on 2nd Saturdays most of the time!

The guy who owned it at the time seemed to have looked after it really well, can you remember what he was asking?
Considering those wheels cost about 20K when he put them on, and the 20 page service history I got from Porsche, he wasn't shy to spend money on this car.
However the Local guy who bought it after him didn't do the same, so I had to catch up about 5 years of neglect and also changed back alot of the electrical hacks he had done.

It's not the whole lot of us doing the Oman trip btw, it's just me and the missus so I could just stop by to say hi!

Also didn't you change your reasonably good breather system on your S4 engine to the abortion of a GTS system? (sorry but I couldn't pass up the opportunity :P )

Not enough! I think it's only me and Gisherton in Dubai.

The 928 GTS I was offered I should ave a pic of it. It was offered to me by a local chap after I saw the advertisement and I am pretty sure it was the one you ended up with. It had not done much mileage and had wheels that I am pretty sure are the ones you have so go figure. I should have some a pics of it somewhere on a redundant hard drive from my now defunct laptop. If I get chance I will try to see if I can extract to compare. As I remember the ask was about DHMs 85k some time not long after I wrecked my S4 so we are talking about 7 years ago I think.

Of course you are most welcome to pop by if you are in town.

I put the GTS breather system on to help it look like a GTS motor which it pretty much does prior to latest mods. I reckon with the GTS breather it simply consumes more oily vapours.

Now, with my current mods, the motor can seemingly breath much freer I reckon but the outlet pipe from the pro vent does not seem to have any oily residue in it the Pro vent for sure is catching oil so hopefully it all works and my overall oil consumption will [hopefully] drop noticeably- we shall see.

Regards

Fred
