This **** just got real.
For the first time in 14 years - back to when I first started driving 928s as prospective purchases, through owning approx 13 of them in different forms.....
I am actually happy with an automatic transmission in a 928
Yes, I have despised them since the beginning - sloppy shifting, banging into gears, breaking (three, for me), hovering, vibrations, whining, etc.
The transmission that Greg rebuilt for this white 88 with 78k miles is wonderful.
to you, Greg, for seeing the details that need to be seen, and taking the time to figure out how the f#ck to do it right.
I hope that your 356 theory is correct, and that you have many many years ahead of you working and teaching those who will listen to how to continue your proper craft.

Never had any intention of rebuilding one of these automatics.....way too much "black magic" inside there. However, I had such poor results with the "rebuilt" automatics that I could get my hands on, I decided that I had to learn to do them, myself, about 4 years ago.
I simply use the best parts I can find, replace anything that looks worn, and update anything that Mercedes or Porsche has superceeded.
The rest is just ****house luck.

Not only that ^^^^,
but pretty much everything else you do ranks as top notch.
Its very fortunate that you do such nice work, we all can benefit,
Thanks Greg

I will happily supply a camera for Greg to mount if he is willing. I gave an extra laying around. Fixed mount,ok resolution. What say Greg?

Greg did all the work on my car before I bought it including installing my transmission. The man is a genius pure and simple.

Pure urban myth.
I'm not better than anyone else, just have more practice. Let's not forget that I'm "old" and have the benefit of seeing 40 years of other people's mistakes. That's a huge advantage, all in itself.....
And I have 27 different 13mm wrenches....so when I forget where I set one, I just grab another. It's the "home" guys that are my heros....I'd still be working on my first engine, if I only had one of those things!
