Doesn't look like we will ever get the information that is needed. Those numbers just make you sit back and go woah. Even in normal cars this is just crazy that we have the technology to do this, and reliably as well(in some applications.)
The engineers that deal with this stuff know that a crankshaft is just an elastic piece of putty, when running. They know when the harmonics occur and when they get really destructive.

The whole rod bearing "failure" thing is more of a mystery. What works in one engine, with one crankshaft, might not work in the same engine with a different crankshaft. What works perfectly, at one rpm, might not work, at all, at another rpm. Engines that "transition" through rpms are a bit more forgiving than engines that run at a steady state rpms, because they are only at a "problem" rpm for shorter periods of time.

. . . .

I've been doing this stuff, my entire life.....and these numbers are still like looking out at the night sky and trying to figure out the universe.
I figured out the universe once but then . .. . . .hey a squirrel. Wait, what was I talking about?

Makes me appreciate the high revving engines in F1 cars all the more...
