Default fuel distributor inlet plug?

Hey guys....Q: is there a fuel distributor inlet filter on my '81 euro 240 hp car? If I take off the inlet line is there a way to properly clean it?

I think all the inlet connectors originally had brass screens in them..I know the WUR inlet usually does. The major problem is getting them out without wrecking them. Once out, I have in the past burned all the crap off with a cigarette lighter.

There is a brass screen in the coupler where the intake line meets the FD. Common point of obstruction after cars have sit for a bit. Can try soaking in injector cleaner, and using some compressed air to blow through the coupler back upstream after using the solvent. Actually, I bet an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner would be great medicine...

Right.

The screen is inside a male-male fitting that connects the fuel line to the fuel distributor. It's like a banjo fitting.

After 30 years everything needs a cleaning.

In my experience these things have a mixture of condensed stuff out of the fuel, and very small fibrous particles - lint etc. Solvents can slowly(VERY slowly sometimes) remove soluble parts, but they wont help with the fibres, which is why i have burnt them clean. An ultrasonic could remove the fibres, but not the other stuff , unless its been sparated from the filter mesh itself.

Mine had gotten to the point that is was just a wad of metal mesh blocking the opening. I just removed it, although that felt a little bit unwise in the long term as I know the hard lines coming forward are full of crystals of hardened fuel and crap that could break free and come forward. I wonder if Roger or Mark or anybody can get that part with the screen in it.

Would be nice to just replace it. Don't the individual lines have filters too? I'm new to 928 so not sure.

It's 928 110 922 00 and available for $34. I'm surprised the 928I website doesn't list a used part. Perhaps a phone call to 714-632-9288 (memorized!) will find differently.
