It's been a while since I installed PET 7.3 and I can't find any notes I might have made about it but from what I remember I had to install 7.2 before 7.3 would work. (Right now I'm guessing that the hardlock.exe that came with my 7.3 download had a problem and the one for 7.2 worked...?) Also I ran across the instructions that came with my 7.3 download - maybe this will help too:
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A PET VERSION INSTALLED ALREADY:
- Stop your Hardlock Emulator.
- Backup any VIN's .txt documents that may you have or any other User Documents.
- Uninstall ANY PET Previous Version.
1. If you're doing a FRESH Installation install the HardLock Driver from the "Hardlock.exe" file. Follow the on-screen instructions.
2. Go to the HardLock Emulator folder and double-click "Porsche PET Emulator.exe" to start the Emulator.
3. Run Setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions to finish your PET 7.3 Installation.
PS
When you run PET 7.3 you might get a warning about MyPETOnline User not connected/existing. Just push "OK" and start working with PET.

Hey Zane,
thanks for the follow up on this! I since switched to a Windows 8 convertible and haven't gotten around to play with PET on it yet, but may give it a shot over the next few days. I'll try the 7.2>7.3 install and see what that does.
Thanks again for your help - much appreciated!

I know this is an old post but I recently had this issue with installing pet 7.3 on windows 8 and nobody seems to have resolved it so I'm posting my work around for those who still need help. Hardlock apparently does not work in a 64 bit environment so you will need windows 8 pro if you do not have the pro version then for a few dollars you can upgrade to it. you will then need to install hyper-v which you can create a virtual machine. you also need to install windows 7 32 bit on the virtual machine then install pet 7.3 you can goggle or you tube on how to set up hyper-v or pm me and I will get you up and running. BTW if the pet 7.2 will work on windows 8 let everybody know including where to find ver 7.2 for download - THANKS

PET 7.0 works perfectly in a win7/64 environment, and 7.3 works perfectly in a 32bits environment. There is a way to update to the newest data versions and still keep 7.0 engine. Works great. I've updated to version 330 and price table 64.

I've read alot about PET and googled around a fair bit. It seems to be a project maintained by a few enthusiasts that no longer maintain it.
Does anyone know if the project is open sourced anywhere? I'd love to open up the data and make it available online or for other Operating Systems (example: I'm on OSX).

As name says PET (Porsche Electronic Teilecatalog) is Porsche factory owned program. Its run on top of same platform as VW ETKA, BMW workshop software etc. Some German company developed underlying system years ago. There isn't very little chance they will allow anyone to distribute it publicly for free.

I have PET 7.3 v330/77 working fine on win 7. But when I print it defaults to A4 paper. The printer otherwise prints fine with letter paper before and after using PET.
