remove hatch lock
How is the easiest way to remove the hatch lock?
The hatch has been awkward to unlock since I bought it.
Now it MUST be removed. The key is toast.
Even from the inside I cannot see a way it can be released or removed.

Drop the tool tray from inside, and lever the tongue with a driver. May take some contortions, and a good light to locate, especially if you havent looked at how they work before.

I have had that off several times and add some epoxy to the plastic piece as it would not lock for about 6 months. For the last several years it has worked good except the key had to be fiddled with.
I will try a thin screwdriver but was unable to see any 'tongue'.
Thanks for letting me know it can be done.

I also recently replaced the male piece (non alarm) cause my lock is broken in pieces inside, $150.00
I didn't have to cause i have the remote but i just didn't want to crawl to the back if the remote fails

Very small flat head screwdriver, like the ones they use on TINY screws. Have a flashlight and scan the gap of the hatch from inside the car. You should see a "pillar" where the lock mates into the female receiver, typically located dead center of the vehicle plane. You should see a sliver of white. That's the tongue. Take the SMALL flat head and push the tongue in and it will pop.
That's how I open my hatch because my lock is busted. A little embarrassing if I need to load something in the back and someone's waiting for me to pop it open. Kinda get that feeling "It's a Porsche and you're doing that?".
Removing the lock just takes pulling away the hatch lining gently to get at the bolts or screws and then disconnecting it from the electrical. It should be plugged in somewhere under the lining. Just disconnect and pull away.
