Second update. The hole in the bracket is loose on an M3 bolt; an M4 could probably be made to fit.

It also seems to me that the spire nut would fit directly on the hose bracket and not on the splash shield itself.

Third update: Rob previously posted about wheel well hardware and he also mentions the alternator bracket hardware sizing. I didn't realize that he had previously mentioned it until late yesterday. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-hardware.html

Additionally, I chatted with Jadz and he advised that a No 8 x 1/2" pan head Phillips screw with a No 8 x 1/2" OD washer would also work for the alternator bracket.

I thought I'd post these findings here in case anyone is ever searching for the same info.

I'm curious. What does that sensor Do? How long is this hose? I have to change this hose since its grimy and oily.

The sensor is for external air temp as part of the climate control A/C. If its not connected and working, you can only get full cold or full hot, nothing in between. You need around 3 ft of hose. Check my link above about attaching the hose without using the splash shield - much easier to R&R the shield later, and wont damage it.

IMHO attaching the hose to the splash shield was one of Porsche's stupider moves. It makes no sense - it is difficult to both assemble & disassemble and is not a long term secure connection for the hose and requires the hose be left longer than necessary. Attaching solidly to the fender support bar is how this should have been done. I have no qualms improving over these clearly stupid things Porsche did.

There is lots of really nice engineering on these cars - then there is crap like this implemented by those "Engineering B-Team Losers" (e.g. the hatch release motor, door release handle hinges, early headlight aiming mechanism, early electric motor door actuators, window switches, pod illumination, interior light fixtures, S4+: fog light & driving light aim adjusters, gas cap pawl... more). These need to all be fixed properly - else you will be living with their failure AND fixing them again and again and again...

Authenticity can be a giant pain in the *** - I'm over that for all these crap things whenever that is possible...
