Alternator Hose
Funny, one of the first things I replaced on my car when I got it in the spring of '07 ... my alternator cooling hose is split open right in front of the shroud. Doubt taping it up would last very long and someday my belly pan will be going back on, so good to go on and take care of it now.
Does anyone have a suggestion of what type/size of hose to replace it with? Assume it takes something a bit out of the ordinary due to the heat and vibration going on down there ...

I sell an awesome Gates hose which is far better than the original and only $25 for 6'.
Impervious to oil and crap and fits like a glove - so well you do not need to clamp it in place.

Hi Rog, send one on down my way, thanks.
OTR18WHEELER, give me a PM with your address and I'll send you the rest to do your car ... IIRC only takes about 3 feet ...

I have one from you Roger, and it is indeed nice. I'm glad you have found that it does not need clamps as the original hose clamps are a bit too small. But I have to ask: "What was the maximum speed used in the certification tests?"

PET shows 320, 900 & 1170 mm (12.6, 35.4 & 46 in.). So maybe cars with no outside air temp sensor use 4 feet and cars with OA sensor use one at 1 foot and another at 3 feet?
Can anyone confirm if the six foot piece from Roger will do two cars?

I don't get where this alternator hose is supposed to run. My shop installed this replacement a while back, and it looks like a big long snake lying in the chin spoiler. Why is it so long? Where is it supposed to be routed?

There is a loop, held in place with a metal bracket on the forward face of the front plastic wheelarch liner. The hose goes to the outside airtemp sensor for the A/C , then a short 1 foot length which is the section that is looped and which is also held in place by the metal bracket.
BTW the hose has been tested up to 160+ without issue.

The bracket which holds the hose bolts to the forward wheel well liner, it is a rather clumsy design because it makes installing the thing difficult. Plus usually the wheel well liner breaks where the bracket attaches. There are many alternatives for fixing the hose in place, search for alternator cooling hose or duct.
Here is my solution - it is not exactly the factory routing but it is very easy, just need two tie wraps. I moved the left tie wrap a bit more left than in the picture.
