Default OB Wheel Well Hardware

I'm going to start acquiring parts as I work towards each task that I plan to do to my 1978. It’s my understanding that this website sells the proper zinc coated fasteners that I need for all four wheel wells: https://www.belmetric.com/loose-wash...crews-c-10_125". Does anyone know which specific bolts/screws are needed from that site? I don't want to reference the screws currently on #338 as I don't trust the originality of them. I referenced the WSM and PET but don’t see the the dimensions or part numbers of the screws listed there either.

Thanks folks.

It is in the PET. For example, item #5 on this page is an M12 bolt with a 1.5mm thread pitch, 45mm long.

Wheel Well hardware is detailed on PET Illustration 801-010, 801-25 & 802-010.
Mostly M6 x 16 hex head bolts and washers

Hi Jeremy - no bolts with the part number N 010 141 4 are used on a 1978 car only from 83 onward.

I was just using that for example if he hadn't noticed the sizing nomenclature in the PET.

Thanks gents. Don’t know how I missed that in the PET. For reference, my car has three different types of bolts heads used amongst all four wheel wells. Gotta clean it up!

6.3 x 16 'loose-washer' (captive washer).

Edit: updated to reflect early 928. Was referencing late model info.

I change up to the 6.3 if the holes (which are ofter opened-up and cracked) need a larger 'loose-washer' (captive washer).

Jim - on the early cars PET states 16 x M6 bolts as opposed to the later 5.5 Hex screws. Certainly 78 through 82. Did they ever use M6 Hex bolts on the early cars?? Is this a PET error?

^^^
I'd say PET is wrong on this one, yes.
That M6 bolt is used around the fender area, like for the lower shields (item 15), and other things not described well.
The wheel well panels use a 6.3 x16 'speed nut'.
6.3 x 19 for mounting the fenders (item 5) will work too.

I was mistaken about the use of the 5.5, that was used on later years. I will edit my earlier post to correct this.

FWIW, PET doesn't state anything for the rear wheel well panels. But 6.3 x 16 works for those too.

Here's the handful that came out of Minerva's left front splash shield on the 1st day of disassembly- a bunch of 6.3 x 15s and two 4.8 x 16 (maybe 13?) pan-head philips screws for the alternator duct retaining bracket.

Follow up question for my inner OCD: which washer diameter is appropriate? 18mm, yes?

The PET appears to list the washer size as "6" but I'm not sure what that's in reference to. If I cross reference on of the PET washer (900 151 003 02) into the Great Google it seems to indicate that it's an 18mm washer. https://www.stoddard.com/90015100302.html.html

900 151 003 02 superceeded to 900 151 006 03, which is listed as washer 6.4 din 9021 verz. (The A6,4 in PET is the ID of the hole in the washer) And per DIN 1021 standard, an M6 washer's dimensions should nominally be 18 x 6.4 x 1.6 mm.

So yeah, 18.
