Default 928 Wheels - Am I the only one?

Hi

Am I the only one running a 928 with 17"x7.5" ET65's front and back?

No where near enough tire for your 928.

Ben,

Can you post a photo of the wheels for us?

IIRC (assuming I'm connecting the dots right from the 928uk list) Ben has an '84 S2.

So these wheels are larger than stock for his year, whilst being the same offset (and thus working with the factory 21mm spacers on the rear).

Yup... The 7.5" are hard to find so yea. I do prefer to run close to even wheel/tire packages on the front and rear of my 928's but I'd rather go wider. I have 8" PanAm fronts and 9" PanAm rears on my '95 GTS running 245 and 255 and LOVE the balance of that car!

Correct - '95 GTS front wheels front and back.

Handling and balance of the car is perfect so I'm not going to change anything.

I would like another set of wheels in the same size for track days but I'm finding it impossible to find any for sale or even a manufacturer who will make me some wheels in this size. (I don't want to remove the rear spacers and change the hub bolts every time I swap wheel sets!)

For track days you can use rears with proper offset, remove the spacers and use open lug nuts.

Right. Open nuts without spacers.

The street trick for long studs is to use open nuts first and put the appearance nuts on second.

Open lug nuts - forgot about them - This would allow me to use a wider rear wheel but I would still like a 17" x 7.5" ET65 on the front.
I've now contacted a couple of wheel manufactures about this size - Will post any results.

7.5 ET65 is difficult size for most wheel manufacturers. It basically means outside rim on 3 piece wheel has to have almost negative dimensions, outside needs to be further in than mounting point.

Ben: my winter wheels are the exact dimensions as you have, 17" x 7.5" ET65's front and back (having 225 Continental winter tires on them) - those drive fine for me.
I bought those with the car from the PO 2+ years ago (I bought both his summer- and winter-wheels & tires set as part of the whole deal, they were as good as brand new then.).
