I'd expect a '86.5 manual w/X-pipe with S300s chips to pull at least 290 Dynojets?

AFR is way lean, even measured at the tailpipe. Check the WOT switch?

Yes to both. Low in power and lean.
Biggest known issue is poor leak down/compression in #3 and not great in one or two others. Other issues tbd.
Took this a baseline before doing next steps.
Next steps are big. I have a replacement S3 motor on the way from 928Intl to swap in after whatever refresh may be needed on it. 928Intl requires a minimum of TB/water pump for their warranty coverage.
I will then rebuild original motor at my leisure.

I agree both counts. I know all dynos are different but my stock 85 manual on my Dynocom 1500 eddy brake dyno measures 263/269 at the wheels std correction, so I think something amiss.
Nice job by the way Ken on all the documentation!

Checked the WOT, seems to work as expected. Idle trigger with a touch of gas, WOT trigger _roughly_ 3/4 pedal throw.

I'll be digging in more.

Hey I've got one just like it on a stand in my garage!

Curious as to what you are going to do to that engine prior to dropping it in. I was planning on doing a thorough cleaning, all gaskets and seals and then swap over my newly redone intake, fuel system and timing components, resisting the urge to remove the heads "just to take a look."

Not entirely sure. Bare minimum will be TB/WP/Porkensioner/fuel lines/ '87 FPR
If good leakdown numbers, probably won't pull the heads
Then some combination of:
Plug wires
Injectors
Front/Rear/Oils seals
Test and replace sensors as needed ( Temp, knock, CPS, etc)
Likely lots of new rubber on top end
ISV, TPS as needed
Powercoat Intake/Cam Cover
Greg Brown Oil Pan/Windage treatment.

You can't trust leak down numbers on an engine that has not been run in over a year

Is there a good alternative for getting a general health picture of rings/valves/etc on this motor before I install it and fire it up?
