Yes, in general. New hose and clamps from Roger, cut off old hose and install.
First starts/pressure tests will be monitored very closely for leaks. Extinguishers nearby and standing ready.
There are other methods. Greg Brown sells very nice complete hoses, but my budget did not allow for that level.

As a general note, even though I have the WSM, PET, Rennlist and a working Motor to look at, it is still very time consuming to get this all assembled. Much more so than I anticipated.

Yes, it's quite a puzzle to put back together correctly even with a reference on a stand right next to where you are working. One note: If you left the harness in the car, I would skip reassembling the fuel system on the stand as you will end up having to remove much of it for the harness to be routed correctly once you drop the engine back in.

Not looking forward to that part, and everything I do now is with an eye towards what will I have to undo/redo to complete the swap.

The wiring harness talk reminded me of an old question: What is the difference between the '85 harness and the '86 harness?
85: 928 607 002 01
86: 928 607 002 10
I see a reference to "9-NR 1/86" but can find no further information on that.

Only thing I can think of is to account for the change in the diagnostic port/TPS sensor bracket, but I've seen 85's with the later bracket so maybe not.

I have a version of 928.607.051.05 that makes it essentially impossible to actually use the diagnostic connector. Cover cannot be opened with fuel line in place.
Funny thing is it appears the same way in the WSM:
My later 86 motor has a better layout, which I may transplant ( or call 928Intl to see if the have the preferred version laying about). Looks like this ( which I think is a Porken Picture)

Comparing the '85 Diagnostic Port / TPS Sensor plug Bracket:
With the layout of the '86 bracket holding the same components:
The '85 diagnostic port is essentially unusable due to the routing of the fuel line.
